This 'The Dead Lands' Is Full Of Screaming Warriors, Beheadings, And Spurting Neck Wounds

If you’re down for a historical actioner where old timey tribal dudes hack each other to shit with old timey weapons, The Dead Lands may be just the movie you’re looking for. Hailing from New Zealand and directed by Tao Fraser, this looks brutal, bloody, and full of crazy ass action. You’ve got revenge and screaming warriors and beheadings and spurting neck wounds. What more do you want?

Here’s the synopsis:

Hongi (James Rolleston) – a Maori chieftain’s teenage son – must avenge his father’s murder in order to bring peace and honour to the souls of his loved ones after his tribe is slaughtered through an act of treachery. Vastly outnumbered by a band of villains, led by Wirepa (Te Kohe Tuhaka), Hongi’s only hope is to pass through the feared and forbidden Dead Lands and forge an uneasy alliance with the mysterious Warrior (Lawrence Makoare), a ruthless fighter who has ruled the area for years.

Magnet Releasing is set to unleash The Dead Lands in theaters and on VOD in the U.S. on April 17, and it drops in the U.K. on May 29. Check out the trailer from IGN below.
