If you’ve ever wanted to watch Thor and Spider-Man battle a
giant, angry whale, Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea is
as close as you’re going to get. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom
Holland—the God of Thunder and Web-Slinger from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe,
respectively—as olde timey New England Whalers, and in reality it isn’t so much
them fighting a pissed off whale is it is them routinely getting thrashed by
one.

'Calvary' Movie Review
When Brendan Gleeson gets together with John Michael
McDonagh, magical things happen. The two first teamed up in 2011 for the black
comedy, The Guard, which, though it gets dark when it needs
to, showcases Gleeson’s easy charm, humor and ability to absolutely take
control of the frame. He’s proven time and time again that he’s one of the best
and most underappreciated character actors working today. Their latest
collaboration, Calvary, takes a different approach than
their last endeavor, but is no less impressive, illustrating again that Gleeson
is equally adept in the lead of this character study as in any supporting
roles.

'The Guard' Movie Review
What do you get when you throw together a crotchety Irish cop and a straight shooting, by-the-book FBI agent? You get a damn good time, that’s what. And director John Michael McDonagh’s new film “The Guard” is just that, a blast from start to finish. The movie works as a 70s throwback crime flick, while at the same time taking the piss out of the genre. “The Guard” is raucous and depraved, but also one of the most entertaining, darkly comic detective movies in recent memory.
