Final 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer Reduces The World To A Single Instinct

My reaction to Mad Max: Fury Road is gut level and primal. I can’t see a TV spot, photo of a car, or poster without giggling like a mindless chimp. That, of course, extends to this new and purportedly “final” trailer for George Miller’s upcoming return to the post-apocalyptic wastes. Check it out after the jump.

This trailer is a bit different. The previous looks have been nonstop action, which makes since considering we’ve head Fury Road is essentially one long chase scene. While there’s certainly plenty of that here, at least the beginning is more concerned with creating tension and setting the scene. We also hear Max (Tom Hardy) talk quite a bit over this new footage, and if we are to believe he only has between 4 and 20 lines in the whole damn movie, we may have heard most of what he says by the time we sit down in the theater. There’s also indications that there are more than just the main warlord, Immortan Joe, who we’ve seen chasing the heroes before, waiting out there on the wastes.

Here’s a synopsis:

Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.

After years of waiting (it’s been in the since 2012), we’re only a few weeks away from finally seeing Mad Max: FuryRoad. Given its track record, I fully expect some vengeful deity to wipe this movie from existence before it opens on May 15, but fingers crossed.
