This 'Avengers: Endgame' Trailer Does Whatever It Takes

Captain America grimace

Now that you’ve all seen Captain Marvel—at least according to the numbers, statistically speaking, most of you have, unless you’re a butthurt manbaby who’s upset Marvel invited girls to play, too—it’s high time to turn our attention to the next installment of the episodic saga that is the MCU: Avengers: Endgame. And surprise, surprise, the Marvel marketing machine released another new trailer. Check it out below.

At this point, does Marvel even need to market their movies, especially the Avengers chapters? Probably not. By now you either know you’re going to see it or you’re not. But that’s not going to stop them.

This Endgame trailer leans heavy on the maudlin mood that has taken over, well, the entire galaxy after Thanos’ snap SPOILER “kills” half the population. If half the world, including many of your close friends, died, or at least were temporarily dead-ish, you’d be bummed, too. We check in with most of the big survivors to see how they’re coping, but in reality, most of what they’re doing is moping. (Apologies for that, had to be done.)

Cap is bummed, Natasha shoots stuff, Ant-Man looks sad, Tony Stark is stranded, Hawkeye…is still here. Good for him. That doesn’t mean there’s no room for the MCU’s trademark humor, like the bit at the end with Thor and Captain Marvel—you knew she was going to make an appearance. And they get a spiffy new uniform makeover!

Like all the Avengers movies, this one promises to be big and game changing and mark a turning point for the franchise. With big-name contracts expiring, many people expect major characters to die and stay dead this time, and they’re definitely playing up the nostalgia and real consequences angle in this latest peek at Endgame. Who knows, maybe we’ll actually say goodbye to a character or two this time.

Avengers: Endgame takes over the world April 26. Who do you think is going to bite the dust? I have my theories. Sound off with yours in the comments below.
