'The Raid 2' Trailer Drops The Berendal, Still Kicks You In The Face

Sweet Baby Jesus. After Gareth Evan’s TheRaid, subsequently renamed The Raid: Redemption, slapped the living crap out of us, any possible follow up climbed right to the top of our must see list. The sequel, The Raid 2, which has been called The Raid: Berendal up to this point, is set to premiere at Sundance tonight, and in anticipation of that, there’s another hot new trailer waiting to kick you in the face.

The action of The Raid 2 picks up right after the first one ends, and finds hero cop Rama (Iko Uwais) leaving his still pregnant wife to go deep, deep undercover—so deep that you get the impression no one actually knows he’s a good guy—in order to clean up the streets. I like that set up, I like it a lot. I also like the girl with the hammers, that massive prison yard brawl, the tight corridor fights, and everything else about this trailer.

As if I wasn’t pumped enough for this. Most of us who aren’t slogging from movie to movie through snow in Park City right now won’t see The Raid 2 until at least March, but holy shit does it look worth the wait.
