A movie based on a text book, even one for fictional teenage
wizards, is something of a hard sell. But Fantastic Beast and Where to
Find Them captures the wonder and magic of the wizarding world of Harry Potter. While extant fans will get the most mileage, and the
connections are obvious—though it thankfully never veers into
Hobbit-esque straight up shilling for the previous franchise—it
stands on its own, and the high adventure and marvelous action astound.

'Oz The Great And Powerful' Movie Review
At one point, near the end of “Oz the Great and Powerful,”
Theodora, played by Mila Kunis in green face, makes an exasperated noise and
utters, “How predictable.” Those two words are a good summation of the entire
movie. There’s nothing particularly wrong with the film, but there’s nothing especially
original or engaging about the story either. Obvious kiddie fare, an audience
that will likely thrill in the dazzling color and shit the bed at the sight of the
flying baboons, the story is so watered down and transparent that sitting
through it as a grown-ass adult can be trying. Why this is more than two hours
long is beyond me.

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' Movie Review
It’s over. After seven books, eight movies, and more than a decade, the saga of teenage wizard Harry Potter has finally concluded. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” is the long-awaited finale to the much beloved franchise, and delivers on the promise of the previous seven movies. While a fitting end, “Deathly Hallows: Part 2” is not perfect. There are some issues, but there were issues with the final book as well, so a few bumps are to be expected. And in the end, the problems are relatively minor and easily ignored. Overall the film is appropriately gloomy, as dark and creepy as you want it to be, and action-packed for the vast majority of its two-hour-plus run time, and fans of the series should be more than satisfied. What I’m trying to say is that it is pretty damn great.
