'Kill' (2023) Movie Review

The Raid on a Blank has become the new Die Hard on a Blank, action movie shorthand wise, and I’m here for every last one. And the easiest way to describe Indian director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill is as The Raid on a Train. That is, of course, reductive and not the whole story, and while awesome, Kill is no Raid. (What is? That’s an unfair comparison.) Still, what follows is a brutal, badass time full of gnarly, head-smashing, bone-snapping violence steeped in sweet melodrama that’s one of the best times at the movies this year.

Holy fuck balls yes! I’m admittedly not well-versed when it comes to Indian action cinema. Part of it is access, but most of it is that I’m lazy and super backed up on movies I need to watch in general. I’ve seen a few of the Dhoom movies and a handful of the more widely known, readily available titles, but Sweet Baby Jesus, I need to see Commando 2: The Black Money Trail when it comes out because this new trailer is bad ass. Not one-word badass, two-word bad ass. There has to be a pause in there, that’s how badass this is.
