D23: So Many Trailers From The Weekend
D23, which his essentially Disney’s version of Comic-Con or similar pop culture brouhahas. It was a massive unveiling of news, trailers, casting, release dates, and all the related accouterments. As usual, it was a lot; some of it interesting, some of it less so. But we did get our first glimpses at a bunch of stuff that will dominate the bulk of the conversation for the next few years.

'Crimes Of The Future' Trailer: David Cronenberg Gets Back To His Body Horror Roots
Add the name Cronenberg to any movie and you have our undivided attention. Especially when it’s familial patriarch David Cronenberg. And especially especially when the film in question turns out to be a sci-fi-twinged body-horror romp. Such is the case with this first teaser trailer for his latest outing, Crimes of the Future. Check it out below, it has all the uncomfortable squeamishness one could hope for.

'Men' Trailer: Alex Garland's Latest Gets A Cryptic First Look And Torments Jessie Buckley
Alex Garland is one of those filmmakers who’s become a must-watch around these parts. His dreamy, weird, heady sci-fi stories are like freaking catnip. So, of course we’re excited for his latest, Men, and even though we don’t know much about it, this first teaser trailer offers a quick glimpse of just what we were looking for.

'The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent' Trailer: Nicolas Cage Plays Nicolas Cage In Most Nicolas Cage Movie Ever

'The Book Of Boba Fett' Trailer: Star Wars Gives Everyone's Favorite Bounty Hunter His Own Series
Personally, I’ve never understood the broad fascination with Boba Fett in Star Wars fandom. He looks tough and was badass in limited screen time in Empire. I’ve always felt the sparse, looming presence and few words went a long way to create an air of mystery and a certain mystique, and aside from that I've never found his appearances elsewhere particularly interesting. But his “end” in Return of the Jedi is so bumbling and unceremonious it’s laughable. But people are obsessed with him, so what do I know? Anyway, now Lucasfilm is attempting to retcon the bounty hunter into a good guy (or good-ish guy) and here’s the first trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.

'Scream' Trailer: Ghostface And Friends Return To Stab More Teens
By now you know no horror franchise ever truly dies, no matter how much time passes. It’s been ten years since we’ve visited Woodsboro, but don’t worry, there’s a new Scream on the way. (And, of course, when horror franchises re-launch after years, they also jump back to the original title.) Scream 5 drops early next year, but the first trailer is here with Ghostface, a bunch of familiar faces who somehow survived the previous four movies, and tons of new potential victims. Check it out below.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' Trailer: Peter Parker Returns With A Few Surprises And Poor Decisions
The other day the filmic corners of the internet were all a-flutter over a leaked version of the trailer for the next adventure from everyone’s favorite friendly neighborhood wall-crawler, Spider-Man: No Way Home. As so often happens in these cases, the studio hauled ass to, ready or not, release a version of the trailer that doesn’t look like hot garbage. And here it is.

'Halloween Kills' Trailer: Evil Dies Tonight, But Probably Not
Any good slasher franchise, like it’s evil centerpiece, is going to be damn near impossible to kill. Such is the case with both Michael Myers and the Halloween saga which he spawned. Like every movie scheduled for in 2020, the latest installment, Halloween Kills, was delayed thanks to COVID-19. But Blumhouse wants to remind us it is still stalking toward theaters and released this awesome new trailer.

'Titane' Trailer: The First Look At Julia Ducournau's New Thriller
Julia Ducournau’s Raw isn’t just one of the best debuts of the past few years, it’s straight up one of the best movies of the last decade. So, of course, when we hear tell of a new movie from the French director, our ears perk up. NEON just released the trailer for her follow up, Titane, about a long-lost child who all of a sudden returns to the world. But I can’t help but think this also looks a bit like a nightmare Fast & Furious movie. And, sure, what the hell. Check it out below.

'Pig' Trailer: Nicolas Cage Hunts For His Kidnapped Pig. Yes This Is A Real Movie
In the upcoming thriller Pig, Nicolas Cage plays a hermit living in the woods who goes on a revenge-fueled hunt for his kidnapped truffle pig. Did I write this movie? I don’t remember doing so, but it sounds like something I would do. Regardless, here is the first Pig trailer. Enjoy.

'Last Night In Soho' Trailer: Edgar Wright Returns With A Psychological Horror Film
Okay, that’s how you use a slowed-down maudlin version of a well-known popular song in a movie trailer. Well played, Edgar Wright, well played. This is, of course, in reference to the use of the use of Petula Clark’s “Downtown” in this trailer for his upcoming 1960s-set horror movie, Last Night in Soho. Which looks like a fine time. Check it out below.
'Gunpowder Milkshake' Trailer: Karen Gillan Teams Up With A Crazy Cast For Action And Revenge
Crazy action, a stacked cast, revenge, a long-lost parent…yeah, I’m in. If any of that sounds good to you, you’ll probably want to check out this trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Gunpowder Milkshake, which has all of that and more.

'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' Trailer: Yes, This Movie Is Really Happening
What is there to say about Venom? In reality, it’s not good, but it is, however, a ton of fun to watch, mostly for Tom Hardy having an insane meltdown and giving a completely bonkers performance. I said I could Hardy banter with himself for hours, and, thanks to this trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage proving that the sequel actually exists, I may have to make good on my promise.

'Shang-Chi And The Legend Of Ten Rings' Trailer: Meet Marvel's Newest Badass
Marvel had big plans for 2020, as usual, but COVID-19 derailed most of those. While fans made due with their episodic Disney+ output, now that theaters are starting to open back up, prepare for the damn to burst. (The fourth quarter of 2021 is an insane glut of every big movie the pandemic delayed; it’s a bit overwhelming.) Though the release has been reshuffled a few times, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in September, and there’s this new trailer and poster to prove it.

'F9' Trailer: Beefy Dudes, Magnet Cars, Family, And A Flying Pontiac Fiero
A magnet car, a jet being taken out by a truck, beefy dudes brawling, talk of family, a long-dead character brought back to life, a flying Pontiac Fiero? All of this taken together can only mean one thing: there’s a new F9 trailer and it’s even more bonkers than you thought.

'Those Who Wish Me Dead' Trailer: Angelina Jolie Fights Fire And Assassins
After beginning his career as a bit-part actor, Taylor Sheridan made his name penning a string of bleak, neo-frontier, pseudo-westerns set in the modern age. Movie like Hell or High Water and Sicario. Jumping to the director’s chair, his output remains tonally and thematically similar thanks to the likes of Wind River. Judging by this trailer, his latest, an adaptation of Michael Kortya’s novel Those Who Wish Me Dead, trods familiar territory. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and this looks like a movie we will be very, very into.

Ben Wheatley's 'In The Earth' Trailer Looks Like Horror Nightmare Fuel
Now this is what we’re talking about. Ben Wheatley is at his best when directing hellish hallucinatory nightmares, and from this trailer for his latest, In the Earth, as well as early buzz from folks who caught it at Sundance, this should fit in snugly in between the likes of Kill List and A Field in England in his filmography. In short, this looks rad and we can’t wait. Take a look for yourself.
