'One Last Shot' (2026) Movie Review

Fellow tactical action enthusiasts, today is a day worth celebrating, for we can now watch the third installment of the James Nunn/Scott Adkins single-take franchise, One Shot. They follow up the 2021 original and 2024 sequel, One More Shot, with One Last Shot. Presumably the final chapter, at least from the title, I, for one, hope they never stop making these and am way in the bag for One More Last Shot, One More Last Shot Again, and however many they want to churn out.

'Hungry' (2026) Movie Review

a giant hippo threatens to eat a young woman
When we think about hippos, a lot of us think of them as big, cute, cuddly goofs. They make excellent stuffed animals for a reason, after all. The reality, however, is they are actually ornery, territorial, startlingly fast on land and in water, and dangerous as all hell. There is no shortage of terrifying hippo videos on the internet; they are straight up scary. And now they are getting their due in the fun new hippos-on-a-rampage movie, Hungry.

'Shark Bait' (2022) Movie Review

three people screaming on a jet ski
A group of college friends on a drunken spring break excursion “borrow” a pair of jet skis for a fun, alcohol-fueled jaunt into unfamiliar waters where no one knows they’re going. What can go possibly go wrong? The answer in Shark Bait, the latest from director James Nunn (One Shot), is everything. They have an accident, their transportation breaks down, and, of course, sharks.

'One Shot' (2021) Movie Review

The “one take” film, movies staged to look like they play out in a single, unbroken shot, have been used quite a bit as of late. There’s the upcoming thriller Boiling Point, Japanese horror One Cut of the Dead, and the highest profile recent uses, the Oscar-winning Birdman and 1917. Results can be mixed and the approach has limitations and pitfalls, but it’s an ambitious undertaking. The latest from director James Nunn (Eliminators), the unoriginally titled One Shot, uses this strategy to craft a strong gritty, low-budget DTV-style action film. And it’s hard to go wrong with a movie fronted by Scott Adkins.
