This 'Mandy' Trailer Has Nicolas Cage Fighting An Evil Cult, Is Everything I've Ever Wanted In A Movie

If Panos Cosmatos’ Nic-Cage-starring cult thriller Mandy wasn’t already at the top of your 2018 must-see list, it should be now. And if it’s not after watching this trailer, I can’t even imagine why you’re here reading this website, because this is 100% what we’re all about. Damn, just damn.

Nicolas Cage  in a chainsaw fight, Nicolas Cage wielding a massive homemade axe, Nicolas Cage with a crossbow, Nicolas Cage battling culty demon bikers. Any one of these things is more than enough to convince me to watch a movie. Taken together, along with the pulsing synth score from Johann Johannsson, hyper-stylized color palate, and general revenge-themed horror insanity, I might have a stroke thinking about how much I want to watch Mandy right this very second. I’m getting all hot and bothered here.

Here's what Mandy is actually about:
Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire.
I had heard about Mandy prior to Sundance. It’s so tailor-made for me, I just get a spider-sense kind of vibe for movies like this. I wasn’t there, but I was excited nonetheless just knowing it exists. Then it screened and I watched as a constant flow of social media made it sound increasingly insane and increasingly awesome. Reviews from people and places I trust in these matters were glowing, and everything about it practically screams, “Hey, dude, we made this movie for you.”

Outside of Nicolas Cage, Mandy also stars Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, Bill Duke, Ned Dennehy, and Richard Brake. A kind of creepy all-star cast. RLJ Entertainment and XYZ unleash the madness in theaters and on VOD on September 14.
