'Arcadian' (2024) Movie Review

nicolas cage in the movie arcadian
Raising twin teen boys is a harrowing enough proposition, but when you have to raise twin teen boys in the middle of an end-of-the-world scenario, it’s even more fraught with peril. And sibling rivalry, and raging hormones, and dammit-dad-leave-me-alone-I’m-brooding. In this exact predicament is where Nicolas Cage’s Paul finds himself in Arcadian. Not only does he have to protect his sons, Joseph (Jaeden Martell, It, Midnight Special) and Thomas (Maxwell Jenkins, Lost in Space), from monsters that come in the darkness, he has to keep them from killing each other. No minor feat.

'Sympathy For The Devil' (2023) Movie Review

nicolas cage and joel kinnaman
It’s hard to make a movie about two people alone in a car compelling. It’s been done, but unfortunately for Sympathy for the Devil, that’s not one of the film’s strong suits. Even Nicolas Cage fully let off the leash to riff and ramble and devour scenery and rant about the Mucous Man sprinkling boogers into his childhood nose isn’t enough to make this interesting or save an otherwise tepid, humdrum thriller.

Fantasia 2023: 10 Films To Check Out

Wait, it’s been a year already? I guess that’s what happens when time loses all meaning. The good news, however, is that since a year has passed it’s already time for the 2023 installment of the Fantasia Film Festival in ye olde Montreal.

'The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent' (2022) Movie Review

Nicolas Cage sunbathing in a bathrobe
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has one hell of a hook, that’s for sure. Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage plays a version of himself, hired by a rich super fan to appear at his birthday party. It turns out the fan is also an international drug dealer, and the CIA enlists Cage’s help to take him down. With a concept as undeniably intriguing as this, the question arises: Can they pull it off? Is it a great idea with nothing to back it up? Does it run out of steam when the initial novelty wears off? These problems have derailed many fantastic concepts, but It’s nice to report this mostly hits the mark and is a damn entertaining time.

The 2021 Seattle Film Critics Society Award Winners

seattle film critics society logo
Awards season seriously feels like it runs half the year. It’s not quite that long, but beginning in early (and earlier every year) December and, at least the last couple years, wrapping up with the Oscars in March, it’s not short.

'Prisoners Of The Ghostland' (2021) Movie Review

nicolas cage nick cassavetes

During production, Nicolas Cage said Japanese director Sion Sono’s Prisoners of the Ghostland “might be the wildest movie I’ve ever made.” Which is saying something from a man who once made a movie where he wore John Travolta’s face. Then again, he’s not wrong. Face/Off, however off-the wall, doesn’t have the testicular explosions, irradiated mutant ghosts, and the ubiquitous cracked mannequin masks of Prisoners. The final product is something like a hyper-absurd post-apocalyptic Escape From New York riff. And I’m here for every last second.

'Pig' (2021) Movie Review

nicolas cage in pig the movie
Pig, a movie where Nicolas Cage tracks down his kidnapped pig through the seedy, cut-throat underbelly of the high-end Portland restaurant scene, is so, so much weirder than even that description makes it sound. Part truffle-centric revenge saga, part moody, introspective character study of a broken man trying to heal, it’s by turns delightful, mean-spirited, and moving, but always very, very odd and unlike anything else out there. Also, Nicolas Cage in a rundown deep woods shanty with a pig friend is just the most adorable thing.

'Pig' Trailer: Nicolas Cage Hunts For His Kidnapped Pig. Yes This Is A Real Movie

nicolas cage pig movie
In the upcoming thriller Pig, Nicolas Cage plays a hermit living in the woods who goes on a revenge-fueled hunt for his kidnapped truffle pig. Did I write this movie? I don’t remember doing so, but it sounds like something I would do. Regardless, here is the first Pig trailer. Enjoy.

'Willy's Wonderland' (2021) Movie Review

nicolas cage and emily testa

Nicolas Cage battling evil animatronics come to life. That’s it, that’s the pitch. Based on that, most people probably know whether or not they want to watch Willy’s Wonderland. I’m a simple man and I’ve watched movies for so much less. And as someone who grew up traumatized by the heyday of hellish robotic children’s entertainment of this ilk, the kind featured at establishments like ShowBiz Pizza (and to a lesser degree, for me at least, Chuck E. Cheese), this hits very close to home indeed.

'Willy's Wonderland' Trailer: Nicolas Cage, Evil Robots, And A Creepy Amusement Park

Nicolas Cage Covered in Goo

Oh my. Oh my, oh my. Nicolas Cage battling evil animatronics come to life is more than enough to capture my imagination. Such is the premise for the upcoming Willy’s Wonderland. To be honest, I didn’t need any more than that to put this on my must-see list, but holy crap, this trailer. This trailer is just…watch it for yourself.

'Jiu Jitsu' (2020) Movie Review

nicolas cage in jiu jitsu
A movie starring Nicolas Cage, Alain Moussi, Tony Jaa, Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan, Marie Avgeropoulos, and Rick Yune, about a group of elite fighters who must use martial arts to defeat an alien invader, directed by one of the masterminds behind the recent Kickboxer films. That’s probably enough information for viewers to decide whether or not to see Jiu Jitsu, a film that delivers precisely what one might expect, waffling between awful and awesome.

'Willy's Wonderland' Teaser: Nicolas Cage Battles Amusement Park Animatronics Come To Life

Nicolas Cage certainly makes choices when it comes to movie roles. Some are obviously driven by his well-publicized financial issues, where he only shows up for a paycheck. Other times he’s more invested, like Mandy or Color Out of Space. Regardless of the why, he’s insanely busy, has dozens of ridiculous sounding movies on the way, and we’re excited for many of them. This includes Willy’s Wonderland, where he plays an amusement park janitor tormented by animatronic creatures come to life. Check out a brief new teaser below.

'Jiu Jitsu': Nicolas Cage And Company Use Martial Arts To Battle Aliens This November

Dreams really do come true. COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on movies an movie releases, especially big blockbusters. But there’s still plenty of room for oddball films to slip through and get a release. And what’s more oddball than a Nicolas Cage-starring sci-fi saga where humanity has to use martial arts to defeat alien invaders? The Cage-fronted Jiu Jitsu is one of our most-anticipated movies of 2020 (and any year to be honest), and now we know when we can see it because it has a release date.

Nicolas Cage To Play Nicolas Cage In The Most Nicolas Cage Movie Imaginable

Where to even begin with this one? So, Nicolas Cage may star in a movie called The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Now, it’s not the pretentious title that causes involuntary eye twitching, it’s the fact that he might play a version of himself, who talks to another version of himself from the past. And there’s also a drug cartel and the CIA. Yeah…

'Color Out Of Space' Trailer: Nicolas Cage, Richard Stanley, H.P. Lovecraft

Nicolas Cage. Richard Stanley. H.P. Lovecraft. I don’t need anything else to work myself up to frenzied levels of excitement for Color Out of Space. Then again, this first trailer doesn’t hurt things. And oh damn.

'Primal' (2019) Movie Review

Here’s everything you need to know to decide whether or not Primal is a movie you want to watch. It stars Nicolas Cage. He plays Frank Walsh, a hunter/illegal animal salesman who captures rare, fully CGI white jaguar he plans to sell for many dollars. Turns out, while transporting/smuggling said trophy on a ship, it’s not the only dangerous creature on board. The U.S. government, for a convoluted series of reasons, is also transporting notorious political assassin Richard Loffler (Kevin Durand) on the same vessel. If you guess they both escape and Frank has to hunt two of the world’s deadliest creatures while on a boat, you are correct. Also, Frank has a parrot sidekick that he hates.

'Primal' Trailer: Nicolas Cage Hunts A Jaguar And An Assassin On A Boat, Because Of Course

“Take it easy with my CAT,” screams Nicolas Cage in the way only he can. So begins the trailer for his latest random, weird-as-hell, straight-to-VOD, probably terrible opus, Primal. And though short, this tells us all we need to know: Nic Cage, on a boat, hunting both a rare jaguar and an international assassin. Because of course. But don’t take my word for it, watch for yourself after the jump.

'Running With The Devil' (2019) Movie Review

There’s a lot going on in Running With the Devil, but also somehow absolutely nothing at all. It jumbles together too many storylines, drug movie clichés, flat characters, and an epic cast of B-movie all stars.

'Jiu Jitsu': Tony Jaa, Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan, And More Join Nicolas Cage's Martial Arts Versus Aliens Movie

tony jaa practices martial arts

When you hear about a movie named Jiu Jitsu, you probably don’t expect it to involve aliens. However, this particular film also stars Nicolas Cage, so all bets are off. And his upcoming action flick just added a ton of badass talent. In addition to Cage and Alain Moussi, star of the recent Kickboxer revamp, the cast now includes Tony Jaa, Frank Grillo, JuJu Chan, Rick Yune, and Marie Avgeropoulos.
