Earnest is the best way to describe David Huggins. He’s an
affable elder gentleman who works part time in a Hoboken deli, spends his spare
time painting, and, oh yeah, lost his virginity to an extraterrestrial. Documentaries
are often only as interesting as their subjects, and Brad Abrahams’
Love and Saucers: The Far Out World of David Huggins
certainly has an eccentric focus.

'The Art Of Jim Burns: Hyperluminal' Book Review
Even if the name Jim Burns doesn’t immediately ring any
bells, odds are that, as an avid consumer of science fiction over the previous
decades, you’ve encountered more of his art than you know. He has worked on
movies, games, and books for longer than many of us have been alive, and his
shelves at home are speckled with trophies that include multiple Hugo Awards
and numerous British Science Fiction Awards, among others. His gorgeous new
book, The Art of Jim Burns: Hyperluminal is scheduled to hit
bookstores (both brick and mortar as well as digital) at the end of this month
and collects may of his paintings and covers, both that you’ve seen and that
you haven’t.

'The Art Of John Alvin' Book Review
John Alvin may not be as well known as the likes
of Saul Bass, or others among his contemporaries in the movie poster making
business, but his body of work is no less impressive, and the images no less
important and iconic. He passed away in 2008, but his wife Andrea Alvin has
compiled an incredible book of his work, both the finished product as well as
in-process pieces and alternates to the famous ones that you know and have
framed on your wall.

'The Art Of John Harris: Beyond The Horizon' Book Review
You may not know the name John Harris right off the bat,
but, odds are, if you’ve read much science fiction in the latter part of the
20th Century, you’re familiar with his work. A renowned artist in his own
right, he is most known for illustrating the covers for countless sci-fi book
going back as far as the 1970s. His newest project is something a little
different. The Art of John Harris: Beyond the Horizon
collects his paintings, both those that decorated the jackets of genre novels,
as well as stand alone pieces, and this is definitely something that you should
be proud to display on coffee table.

Book Review: 'The Art Of Titanfall'
Titanfall is one of the most highly
anticipated video games coming down the pipe. I know less than shit about video
games, but even I’m aware that fans are pretty damn pumped up for the latest
offering from Respawn Entertainment. The game doesn’t even come out until
Tuesday, March 11, but if advanced hype is any indication, it’s going to be
rather popular. People at work who managed to get their hands on beta versions
of the game can’t, or at least won’t, shut up about it. To be honest, I don’t
particularly know what sets this apart from its competitors, or why it walked
away from E3 2013 with a record breaking number of awards. I don’t know
anything about game play, or the history, but what I do know is that visually
the game is absolutely stunning. Even if you’re like me, and think video games
peaked with Ms. Pac Man, you take a look at the gorgeous new
book The Art of Titanfall.
