Brent's Top Ten Horror Movies Of 2016



It’s the last week of 2016, I don’t have any reviews to write, Carrie Fisher just died, and the whole world is covered in shit. For some reason, these bleak circumstances seem a wholly appropriate place to drop a list of my top horror movies of 2016. There are certainly some grim times to be found among these titles.

'Baskin' (2016) Movie Review


A tense, brutal, expectation defying supernatural nightmare, director Can Evrenol’s feature debut, Baskin, is the kind of movie that haunts your dreams and keeps you up at night. There is quite a bit to set this apart and elevate it from its peers, but with the level of brutality and straight-up meanness, Baskin is chiefly going to be for the hardcore horror hounds out there. Simply due to some of the imagery and the aesthetics, it’s difficult not to invoke Pascal Laugier’s Martyrs.

The Latest 'Baskin' Trailer Is Straight Up Nightmare Fuel


All you gore hounds and horror heads out there have been keeping an eye on the Turkish nightmare factory Baskin for a while. After a successful run on the festival circuit, it’s finally hitting U.S. shores to scare the hell out of us all. To mark the occasion, IFC has released a dark, twisted new trailer. This Trailer For Turkish Horror 'Baskin' Will Give You Messed Up Nightmares


Well, this is going to give you nightmares. If you’re fortunate enough to be at the Toronto International Film Festival soon, and can stay awake through the Midnight Madness portion of the program, and have the stomach for fucked up horror, you might want to check out the premiere of the nasty demonic Turkish flick Baskin. Check out the new trailer and you’ll be able to tell whether you want to see this or not, there’s not going to be a lot of ambivalence.
