'See For Me' (2021) Movie Review

Home invasion stories are a staple of the horror and thriller genres. It’s well-worn, oft-trod territory, but when handled well, still offers an effective avenue for tension, pressure, and terror. Randall Okita’s See for Memay not lay any fresh tracks, but it does deliver a tight, impactful, efficient thriller, one with enough unique hooks and unexpected turns to set it well apart from the pack.

'The Rental' (2020) Movie Review

The Rental doesn’t have a whit of originality in its 89 minutes. This is a beat for beat, paint-by-number horror thriller. However, it does what it does well enough, knows not to overstay its welcome, and a fantastic cast ensures the film at least remains watchable throughout.

Yeah, that sucks. Such is life for Ben (John-Paul Howard), protagonist of writer/director brothers Brett and Drew Pierce’s new horror film, The Wretched.

'Trespassers' (2019) Movie Review

Home invasions are a staple of horror, and while it offers a largely paint-by-numbers approach, Trespassers delivers a passable, if familiar addition to the subgenre. It hits all the markers: dysfunctional couples, a remote setting, questionable decision making; drugs, booze, and assholery abound. There are major logical jumps and a few narratively convenient oversights, but mean-spirited carnage and strong female protagonists make it a compelling watch.

'Pyewacket' Trailer: Heavy Metal, Horror, And Satanic Panic!

I don’t know writer/director Adam MacDonald (Backcountry) personally, but I can say with relative certainty that he made his new movie, Pyewacket, just for me. Okay, maybe not, but we’re talking about an occult, heavy metal, satanic panic horror movie, so he may as well have titled it Movie for Brent. Check out this trailer if you’re picking up what I’m putting down.
