'Night Raiders' (2021) Movie Review

elle maiji-tailfeathers
The near-ish future of Night Raiders, writer/director Danis Goulet’s debut feature, sets up a dystopian society where an oppressive government requires children under 18 be placed in the Academy, a kind of militarized boarding school that brainwashes and programs kids. Niska (Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open) lives off the grid in the wilderness, sheltering her daughter, Waseese (Brooklyn Letexier-Hart), from such a fate. When Waseese is taken, Niska falls in with a group of Indigenous resistance fighters led by Ida (Gail Maurice, Trickster) and Leo (Alex Tarrant, NCIS: Hawaii) to liberate her and other children.

'Deathgasm' Trailer: Heavy Metal, Demons, And Mayhem

When your movie is called Deathgasm, you’re damn right I’m going to watch it as soon as humanly possible. It doesn’t hurt that the New Zealand heavy metal horror flick is fucking incredible. It’s easily one of my favorite movies of the year, and as it’s getting a release this fall, they dropped another awesome new trailer. Check it out.

'Deathgasm' Movie Review: This Is The Demonic Heavy Metal Horror Film You've Been Waiting For

Deathgasm is the demonic, heavy mental horror film you didn’t even know you wanted. Okay, I knew this is exactly what I wanted, but the likes of Wild Zero, Black Roses, and Rock and Roll Nightmare are all personal favorites. It’s like this movie was made specifically for me, which was quite nice of writer/director Jason Lei Howden. When you hear a title like Deathgasm, odds are it conjures up some particular, rather vivid imagery, and that’s exactly the movie you see on screen. And it’s fucking awesome: funny, gore-soaked, and actually a bit touching.

This 'Deathgasm' Trailer Has Demons, Blood, And Heavy Metal, What More Do You Need?

Beheadings, demons, saw attacks, and shredding heavy metal, this trailer for the gore fest Deathgasm certainly has my full attention. The fact that the movie is called Deathgasm doesn’t hurt either. Slated to premiere as part of SXSW’s Midnight program next month in Austin, this instantly became a movie I want and need to see.
