It’s the last week of 2016, I don’t have any reviews to write, Carrie Fisher just died, and the whole world is covered in shit. For some reason, these bleak circumstances seem a wholly appropriate place to drop a list of my top horror movies of 2016. There are certainly some grim times to be found among these titles.

Isn’t this always the case? We go for what feels like forever not seeing much from a movie that we’re super pumped for, and when we get the first splash it turns into a wave. I sincerely hope that’s what’s happening with Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon. Just yesterday we got the very first trailer, and today we woke up to a quick new U.K. teaser. One of the things I look forward to like little else is the arrival of a new Nicolas Winding Refn movie. His latest, The NeonDemon, is, understandably, a film I’ve been keeping an eye on for quite some time. Though it hits later this year, we haven’t seen much, aside from a handful of stills and posters. That is, until today. Anytime Nicolas Winding Refn makes a movie, it’s an event that will have my full, undivided attention. The director of Drive, Only God Forgives, Bronson, Valhalla Rising, and more is a damn hit factory, so I’m understandably excited for The Neon Demon, which just dropped two slick new posters.

We don’t know much about it, though production is reportedly about to wrap and now we’ve got a couple new photos to gawk at, and this certainly looks like a movie that sprung forth from Refn’s peculiar brain as they’re both gruesome and highly stylized.
