Nicolas Winding Refn's 'The Neon Demon' Delivers 2 Gruesome, Stylized Photos

We’ve been hearing about Nicolas Winding Refn’s female-centered horror film The Neon Demon for a while. We don’t know much about it, though production is reportedly about to wrap and now we’ve got a couple new photos to gawk at, and this certainly looks like a movie that sprung forth from Refn’s peculiar brain as they’re both gruesome and highly stylized.

It’s been two years since Only God Forgives, which was divisive to say the least (I love the hell out of it), and with a cast that includes Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks, and Keanu Reeves, we’re rather pumped for The Neon Demon around these parts. Here’s a quick synopsis:

When aspiring model Jesse (Elle Fanning) moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.

The rights for the film have been sold, but there’s still no word on a release date just yet. Perhaps, with production winding down, we could see it pop up at one of the fall festivals. Fantastic Fest in Austin seems like it would be a good fit, but who the hell knows. We’ll keep our eyes out and let you know as soon as we hear anything. Hopefully we’ll see some footage or a trailer before long.
