With movies like Dogtooth, The Lobster, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer on his CV, Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos crafts singular, alluring, if often cold and standoffish films. With his latest, The Favourite, he delivers his most accessible, warmest offering to date. Not without its own oddities, peculiarities, and the filmmaker’s trademark strangeness, it’s anchored by next-level performances; lush, intricate costume and production design; and will serve as an entry point for many into his cannon.

Yorgos Lanthimos' 'The Favourite' Trailer Has Bullets, Blood, And Bodices
For his follow up to The Lobster and
The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Yorgos Lanthimos is taking on an
18th century British period piece. And as you can imagine, being a Yorgos
Lanthimos film and all, The Favourite isn’t exactly what you
expect from this set up. I don’t entirely know what I’m watching with this new
trailer, but I love it and can’t wait to see more.

'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer' (2017) Movie Review
Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (The
Lobster, Dogtooth) doesn’t make simple,
straightforward movies. He doesn’t offer easy answers, or often even answers at
all. His latest, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, doesn’t
depart from this formula, but like his other films, it’s hypnotic, confrontational,
and lingers long after exiting the theater.

'The Killing Of A Sacred Deer' Trailer Burns This Shit To The Ground
If not the most interesting (read: weirdest) filmmaker working
right now, Yorgos Lanthimos has to be near the top of the list, just between
Dogtooth and 2015’s The Lobster. So his
next offering, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, is obviously
one of our most anticipated movies of the year. Especially as it’s been
described as a revenge horror. And this first trailer only makes me with is was
in my eyeballs right now.
