'Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials' Cranks Out A Chaotic New Trailer

It may not be as good, overall, as The Hunger Games, but the first installment of The Maze Runner series is entertaining, if a little light, and a damn sight better than either of the Divergent movies. The second chapter, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is on its way later this year, and they just dropped and action-heavy new trailer. I’m not going to like, it looks a little like Terminator meets The Goonies. Check it out below.

While still primarily composed of the action that drove the first film (I remember reading the book and not thinking much of it, but coming to the conclusion that it could make an entertaining movie, which it did), The Scorch Trials takes the relatively contained set up and breaks it wide open. No longer are a bunch of amnesiac teens confined to a maze, hunted by monsters, now they’re on the loose, running through a ruined world, tussling with monsters, coping with a nasty virus and some sort of oppressive government or corporation, and butting heads with the dude who plays Little Finger on Game of Thrones.

Here’s the synopsis:

In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

If you liked the first movie, based on what we see here, you’ll probably enjoy what hits the screen this time around. Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials opens on September 18. Watch the trailer below.
