Tom Hiddleston Is An Excellent Specimen In New 'High-Rise' Trailer

Ben Wheatley’s (Kill List, Sightseers) adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s dystopian classic High-Rise got mixed reviews after it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, but this is still near the top of my most anticipated movies of 2016. It’s creeping closer every day, and another great new trailer is here for your perusal.

Here’s a synopsis:
1975. Two miles west of London, Dr. Robert Laing moves into his new apartment seeking soulless anonymity, only to find that the building’s residents have no intention of leaving him alone. Resigned to the complex social dynamics unfolding around him, Laing bites the bullet and becomes neighbourly. As he struggles to establish his position, Laing’s good manners and sanity disintegrate along with the building. The lights go out and the lifts fail but the party goes on. People are the problem. Booze is the currency. Sex is the panacea. Only much later, as he sits on his balcony eating the architect’s dog, does Dr. Robert Laing finally feel at home…
High-Rise stars Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, and Luke Evans, and hits U.K. theaters on March 18. Those of us on U.S. shores will have to wait until May 13 to check it out. That’s close to my birthday, so, happy birthday to me. Check out the trailer below.
