'The Batman' (2022) Movie Review

robert pattinson as the batman
If Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight movies were a tad too upbeat, festive, short, and well-lit for you, don’t worry The Batman is here to rectify all that. Directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn and War for the Planet of the Apes), the latest tale of Gotham’s Caped Crusader is a lot of movie—in terms of runtime, in terms of storylines, in terms of plot, and brooding, and fistfights, and set pieces, and… Some of which works well, some of which never comes together in a satisfying way.

'Okja' (2017) Movie Review

Outside of the fact that he makes great movies, my favorite thing about Bong Joon-ho is that you never know to expect from one project to the next. The South Korean director has turned out the greatest modern creature feature with The Host, which is still so much more than just that. His resume also includes murder mysteries (Mother, Memories of Murder), post-apocalyptic sci-fi set entirely on a moving train (Snowpiercer), and even black comedy (Barking Dogs Never Bite). Bong’s latest, Okja, fits into his larger body of work by being both utterly fantastic and unlike anything he’s done before, despite the presence of a fantastic beast.

'Okja' Trailer: Meet The Most Adorable Super Pig

Any Bong Joon-ho movie is worth getting excited about. But when it’s about a little girl trying to rescue her best friend, a best friend that just happens to be a giant pig monster, it has my full attention. The Korean auteur’s latest premieres at Cannes tomorrow, and Netflix dropped a wonderful new trailer for Okja.

Bong Joon-Ho's Netflix Creature Feature 'Okja' Digs Up New Plot And Character Details

South Korean auteur Bong Joon-ho is the mastermind behind one of the greatest modern creature features, The Host. So when we heard he’s returning to monster movie territory with the upcoming Okja, we were understandably stoked. Then he put together an incredible international cast along the same lines as Snowpiercer, and we started drooling. Now some new details have slithered out, and we may or may not have started dancing around the office with glee.

'Swiss Army Man' Red Band Trailer: Now With More Boner

Seriously, there’s quite a bit of boner in this red band trailer for the bizarro Sundance flick Swiss Army Man, better known as the farting Daniel Radcliffe corpse movie. Maybe don’t watch this one if your boss is looking over your shoulder, unless your boss is down, then have at it.

'Swiss Army Man' Trailer: Daniel Radcliffe Is A Farting, Puking, Jet Ski Of A Corpse

When it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, reviews for Swiss Army Man were not all that great. But this is such a bizarre, WTF-inducing premise that it was going to get looked at no matter what. Even if you don’t know the title, you probably heard of this as the farting corpse movie starring Harry Potter himself as the corpse. Well, a new trailer is here, and it’s as bonkers as you expect, possibly even more so.

Bong Joon-Ho's Monster Movie 'Okja' Is Putting Together The Best Cast

Any time Bong Joon-ho makes a movie, it’s well worth getting your panties in a bunch over. The guy is a goddamned hit factory—Snowpiercer, Mother, The Host. But when he makes a monster movie, one with an insanely great cast, that’s the kind of thing that gets you dancing around the room in giddy anticipation.

'Being Flynn' Movie Review

Based on Nick Flynn’s acclaimed memoir “Another Bullshit Night in Suck City”, Paul Weitz’s (“American Pie”) latest film bears the uninteresting name “Being Flynn”. The necessity for the name change is obvious—after all, you can’t put swears up on a marquee—but they went from the a great, memorable title to something completely bland and generic. There’s no way a name like “Being Flynn” will offend anyone’s delicate sensibilities, but there is no way it will stick with anyone either. Luckily for you the watering down of the title doesn’t extend to the contents of the memoir.
