'Gold' (2022) Movie Review
To call writer/director (and actor) Anthony Hayes’ Gold minimal is a bit of a stretch. Minimal is an overstatement. There are seven acting credits. Of those seven, two are the same person playing different roles. Three appear on screen for one scene each. Of those three, one is a baby and another is a woman with no lines. The bulk of the movie is Zac Efron alone in a post-apocalyptic desert gradually losing his mind, and all things considered, Hayes squeezes a great deal out of this arrangement.

'Baywatch' (2017) Movie Review
Baywatch can’t decide what movie it wants
to be. Is it a foul-mouthed, satiric send up of the long-running cheeseball T&A
fest (the easy comparison is 21 Jump Street)? Or is it an
earnest action drama about a ragtag group of lifeguards becoming a family and
saving their beach? The attempt to be both ultimately drags director Seth
Gordon’s (Identity Thief) film down to drown in the watery
depths.

'Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising' (2016) Movie Review
Back in 2014, Neighbors became a hit and
marked, if not a maturation of Seth Rogen and his foul-mouthed comedy style, at
least a shift towards more mature thematic concerns, particularly those of
fatherhood and marriage. Produced for a modest sum, and with a worldwide box
office haul of more than $270 million, it’s two years later and the no-brainer
sequel is here to strengthen Rogen’s dad brand.

'Neighbors' Movie Review
“Neighbors” is the big, raunchy, R-rated comedy you were
hoping for this summer. Seth McFarlane’s “How to Die in the West” may challenge
for that crown, but it has an uphill battle, because Nicholas Stoller’s latest
film is a total, uproarious blast. Delightfully foul—like a dildo fighting,
baby chewing on a used condom filthy—this is better written than you expect out
of this kind of movie, and really better than it has any right to be. Normally,
comparing a movie to a classic is a sure sign that it is nowhere near as good
as the benchmark, but you can’t help but imagine that “Neighbors” is going to
get called this generation’s “Animal House.” And it very well might be. If
nothing else, it will make you laugh your ass off from beginning to end.
