If you’ve always wanted to watch a movie that explores what
Denzel Washington’s life would be like as a Lyft driver, you’re in luck,
because that comprises the bulk of The Equalizer 2’s
bloated, 121-minute runtime. And yes, it’s as dull as that sounds.

UPDATED: 'The Equalizer 2' Trailer: Denzel Washington Is Up To His Badass Old Tricks
From all appearances, I like The Equalizer more than most people. It has a lunatic edge and one of the
villains is essentially the Devil, which I’m all for. So, of course I’m game
for another team up between star Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua.
The Equalizer 2 drops this summer, and to get those of us
fond of watching Denzel wreck dudes hyped up, it now has a new trailer.

'The Magnificent Seven' (2016) Movie Review
Studio westerns are a Hollywood staple, though one that has
largely fallen by the wayside in recent times. Reworkings and narrative
modernizations of the formula are more common—just look at this year’s
Hell or High Water for an excellent example—but a
straight-up old school western is something of a rarity. But that’s precisely
what Antoine Fuqua’s star-spangled The Magnificent Seven
delivers, though in bloodless, PG-13 fashion. It doesn’t bring anything new to
the formula, but it doesn’t try to, and that’s fine.

'The Magnificent Seven' Trailer Is Totally Badass
To be honest, until some photos dropped yesterday, I forgot
that Antoine Fuqua’s remake of The Magnificent Seven was
happening. But if we were sharing the same boat, Sony is doing their level best
to remind us both that this is on the way, because they just dropped the very
first trailer.

'Southpaw' Movie Review
If you know anything at all about the movie going into
Southpaw, you know precisely what you’re going to see. This
is a paint-by-numbers redemptive sports saga from the opening scene, and though
star Jake Gyllenhaal gives yet another fantastic performance as boxer Billy
Hope (yes, the protagonist’s name is Billy Hope in case you were expecting any
subtlety at all), a pugilist bruised both physically and emotionally, he can’t
elevate the rote story.

Watch Jake Gyllenhaal Train To Kick Your Ass In This 'Southpaw' Video
So far, early reviews on Jake Gyllenhaal’s boxing drama
Southpaw have been mixed, but I tend to like both movies
where the on-a-roll actor goes through an intense physical transformation
(Nightcrawler) and the rather workmanlike films of director
Antoine Fuqua (The Equalizer), so I’m totally game. Check
out this featurette of just how far both men went to make sure the in-the-ring
action looks legit.
