'Thoroughbreds' (2018) Movie Review

When an actor dies in sudden, tragic fashion, often their death overshadows their final performance. Anton Yelchin passed away in 2016, just 14 days after filming wrapped on Thoroughbreds. A sharp, clever, emotionally affecting thriller, it fits nicely in the niche of off-kilter indie fare he carved out for himself. It watches like a companion piece to Tragedy Girls, a kind of modern riff on Heathers, funny and biting and earnest.

'Star Trek Beyond' (2016) Movie Review

So, I finally saw Star Trek Beyond this weekend (just a wee bit late, I know). While I’m too lazy to write a real review—and who the hell cares this far after the fact—it’s a damn fine time. Not the best movie of the summer by far, it’s still in the upper echelon as far as big-budget studio blockbusters go—though that’s admittedly not the highest bar this year.

'Star Trek Beyond': Watch Everyone Be Sad In The Final Trailer

We’re just a few weeks away from Star Trek Beyond, which feels strange to say as there’s been a noticeable lack of hype surrounding the film—at least aside from the backlash stirred up by the first trailer. Maybe Paramount is still shell-shocked by the hatred for Star Trek Into Darkness (which, despite its reputation for being critically panned, has an 86% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes). But there is a new “final” trailer to check out, and it’s a total downer.

'Star Trek Beyond' Trailer: It's Starting To Look A Lot Like 'Star Trek'

Remember how that last Star Trek Beyond trailer sucked so bad even the guy who wrote the movie admitted it wasn’t very good? Yeah, well, apparently Paramount took that to heart and released a new, much better trailer. There’s not a single Beastie Boys track to be found. Check it out.

'Green Room' (2016) Movie Review

Being on tour isn’t nearly as glamorous as most people think, especially for a small band, or one clinging to DIY aesthetics and ideals. Sure, there are moments, but there is also sleeping in vans, breaking down, shows that fall through, driving 12 hours for shows that fall through, and, perhaps most disheartening, driving 12 hours to play a show where three people who don’t give a shit show up and leave in the middle of the set. I’ve been on some terrible tours over the years, played some god-awful disasters, but never has a show or tour sucked as hard as the one in Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room.

'Green Room' Red Band Trailer Breaks Bones And Unleashes The Hounds

At least for a while, I can’t say much about it, but Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up to Blue Ruin, Green Room, is awesome. It’s one of my favorite movies that I’ve seen this year, and there have already been a surprising number of fantastic movies thus far in 2016. It hits theaters soon, and to mark the occasion, A24 dropped a vicious new red band trailer for you to take a look at.

Latest 'Green Room' Trailer Is Ruthless And Grim

You know what, being in a band and being on tour sucks. It’s not all Almost Famous and epic parties and groupies and rock and roll. It’s endless driving, sleeping in your van, being broke as hell, and finding yourself in dicey situations far from anyone who might come to your aid. And no tour has ever sucked quite as much as the one in Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room. Need proof? Check out the latest trailer.

Vicious 'Green Room' Red Band Trailer Breaks Bones And Unleashes The Hounds

It debuted and Cannes last year, and we’ve been waiting for Jeremy Saulnier’s Green Room ever since. Truth be told, we’ve been fiending for whatever he did next after Blue Ruin, and this looks like one hell of a follow-up. It just played at Sundance and opens for the rest of us in April, and ahead of that A24 just dropped a vicious new red band trailer.

'Green Room' Room Gets A Tense, Grim Trailer, Needs To Happen Right Now

After Blue Ruin, I’m game for anything writer/director Jeremy Saulnier does, and his next offering, Green Room, looks right up my alley. An exploitation style throwback to the tense, economic standoff movies of early John Carpenter and his ilk, Green Room is finally getting ready to open, and there’s a grim new trailer that makes me want this to happen right now.

'Burying The Ex' Trailer: Anton Yelchin Gets Cock Blocked By His Zombie Girlfriend

Joe Dante, zombies, a bizarre, twisted horror premise? We’re sold right there. It’s been six years since the mind behind Gremlins and Small Soldiers has directed a motion picture (though he’s helmed a number of Hawaii Five-O episodes, oddly enough), and he’s back with Burying the Ex, a horror rom-com, which dropped a new trailer today.

'Fright Night' Movie Review

I’m going to try not to waste a bunch of time with a pointless how-dare-they-remake-a-classic-like-“Fright Night” rants. We all know that well trod territory is completely pointless, and they’re going to keep coming, like it or not. Besides, I’ve seen the original—though it’s been at least 15 years, probably more—and while I remember enjoying it, I also remember that it wasn’t any sort of masterpiece to begin with. Sorry to all of you hardcore fans out there, you can send me hate mail if you want. I’m here to say that “Fright Night 3D”—director Craig Gillespie’s remake of the horror comedy—isn’t all bad, but it is mostly bad.
