'Point Blank' Trailer: Frank Grillo And Anthony Mackie Team Up In This Remake Of A Baddass French Action Movie

UPDATED: Not to be confused with classic 1967 Lee Marvin movie of the same name, the 2010 French action-thriller Point Blank has been remade a startling number of times for a film most people never knew existed. And that includes a new Netflix version starring Frank Grillo and Anthony Mackie. It drops next month and the first trailer is here to prove it.

'Cold Pursuit' Trailer: Liam Neeson, His Snowplow, And Revenge

Sure, on the surface, I know Cold Pursuit is a remake of the 2014 Norwegian thriller In Order of Disappearance, which is good. But god damn, it’s really difficult to take a movie about Liam Neeson as a vengeful snowplow driver seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I will watch the hell out of this movie, but we’ll see how it translates. In the meantime, watch the first trailer below.

'A Star Is Born' (2018) Movie Review

Did you know Lady Gaga is a phenomenal singer? Apparently only Bradley Cooper does, which is the basic premise for his directorial debut, yet another remake of A Star is Born. Which also happens to be yet another movie where a mediocre white dude is the only one who truly recognizes how talented, remarkable, and beautiful the central female figure is. So, that’s obnoxious. The movie is actually very good and emotional and romantic and all the other superlatives bandied about—to degrees—but there’s that one massive hurdle to get over, so your mileage may vary.

It’s all been said before, and no matter what, I’m all kinds of jazzed for Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 horror fave Suspiria, even if it is two-and-a-half hours long. Gareth Evans’ bananas 2011 Indonesian film, The Raid, is one of the greatest modern action movies. Grim, gritty, and brutal, it introduced the world-at-large to the prodigious talents of Iko Uwais and marked it’s helmer as a true auteur of bone-breaking violence. And because it’s subtitled, an American remake has kicked around ever since. A remake of The Raid has been an on-again-off-again proposition, but it’s apparently very much on again.

Yes, you read that headline right. It sounds like a joke, but no, it is not. Liam Neeson’s late-career action-star renaissance continues. He’s had his daughter taken in Taken, flew Non-Stop on an airplane, and even Run All Night. (He’s also going to ride a train and presumably commute in The Commuter.) Now he’s set to play a snowplow driver out for vengeance in…wait for it…it’s too good to let it out right away…Hard Powder.

The original Mechanic—the 1972, Michael Winner-directed, Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent-starring original, not the 2011 remake—is one of my all-time favorites. While the Jason Statham-fronted update doesn’t live up to that, it’s a fun enough DTV-style actioner, the kind that only comes to theaters when Statham takes the lead. 'Point Break' Is Totally Going To Ruin Christmas

It probably comes as no surprise that Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 action opus Point Break is one of my all-time favorite movies. We’re talking top five, easy, right up there with Rubin & Ed, Out For Justice, and A Bittersweet Life. If you guessed that I’ve been skeptical about the impending remake, you are correct, and when they released that totally joyless, stone-faced trailer yesterday, it didn’t do anything to instill confidence.
