19-year-old Australian dynamo Alice Maio Mackay already has a hell of a roster of low-to-no-budget horror movies under her belt with the likes of T-Blockers, So Vam, and Bad Girl Boogey, among others. And now she’s back to throw her hat in the holiday horror ring with Carnage for Christmas, a bloody fun yuletide romp that’s definitely going into my regular seasonal rotation.

'It's A Wonderful Knife' (2023) Movie Review
For his first two features, writer Michael Kennedy has used essentially the same strategy. He takes an iconic movie plot and asks, but what if it was a slasher? There’s 2020’s Freaky Friday riff, Freaky, and now he teams up with Tragedy Girls director Tyler MacIntyre for It’s a Wonderful Knife. You can probably discern the premise from the title. The result plays something like an unapologetically queer Hallmark Christmas movie covered in blood and stab wounds. Which is as much damn fun as it sounds.

'Christmas Bloody Christmas' (2022) Movie Review
Military technology repurposed as family-friendly holiday entertainment, what could possibly go wrong? Movie Review: 'The Night Before' Is A Raucous New Holiday Classic
If traditional Christmas fare like Miracle on 34th
Street and It’s a Wonderful Life are, well, a bit
too traditional for your tastes—by that I mean there’s little to no hard drug
use, few if any curse words, and absolutely no close up images of genitals—then
2015 is your lucky year. This holiday season we have director Jonathan Levine’s
The Night Before, and it is crude, crass, sweeter than you
may expect, and, most importantly, really goddamn funny.
