'6 Underground' Trailer: Michael Bay And Ryan Reynolds Destroy Italy With Gleeful Abandon

There’s a segment of the filmgoing public who, with good reason, hates Michael Bay. I’m not one of them. (Outside of the Transformers movies, those movies are trash and their—now thankfully waning—popularity baffles me.) With his next film, 6 Underground, he’s bringing his Bayhem to Netflix and this new trailer is both amazing and terrible in the best possible ways. There’s also one of the most god-awful posters I’ve ever seen.

'Deadpool 2' Trailer Has Poop Jokes And X-Force

I legitimately enjoyed Deadpool, more than I expected to. I wasn’t sure how it would translate, if they would go all in on the filth and violence, but they did. And the result is a fun, foul-mouthed superhero joint. Even so, I haven’t been able to work up one iota of enthusiasm for Deadpool 2. And I should. David Leitch directed John Wick, the best modern action movie, and Atomic Blonde, which is solid. It has Josh Brolin, who I’ve loved since Thrashin’; Zazie Beetz, who rules; Terry Crews; and the kid from Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Regardless of how I feel, the Merc with the Mouth is coming back, and there’s a new trailer, and it does little to get my juices flowing.

'The Hitman's Bodyguard' (2017) Movie Review

I have way more complicated feelings about The Hitman’s Bodyguard than I initially expected. On one hand, it’s a modestly entertaining 1980s style action throwback about two-mismatched bros in the vein of Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, 48 hrs., and really any movie of that era where a white dude and a black dude—one stuffy, one impetuous—team up. And it delivers a fair approximation of those movies.

'Life' (2017) Movie Review

Daniel Espinosa’s sci-fi thriller Life is pure trash; pure, delicious, empty calorie-filled, delightful junk food trash. Not original in any way, and dumb as a box of really stupid rocks, it’s way more fun than it has any right to be. Even the “We were better off alone” tagline practically screams exactly what this movie is.

'Criminal' (2016) Movie Review

I’m all for actors reinventing themselves later on in their careers, especially when it involves turning to gritty, low and mid-budget genre fare. Thus far, however, Liam Neeson has had the lion’s share of the success when it comes to claiming this more mature action hero status, though guys like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger never really vacated their thrones. Sean Penn and Pierce Brosnan both tried their hand at it over the last few years, with less than stellar results. Kevin Costner is no stranger to thrillers, and though he took a swing and whiffed with 3Days to Kill, he’s back to give it another go with Criminal.

Movie Review: 'Deadpool'

There’s been a lot of talk about how the new adaptation of Deadpool would work. Last time we saw the Merc with the Mouth on the big screen, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was…not good. And with the brutal violence, sex, swearing, and fourth-wall breaking the character is known for, fans were worried about how that would translate to the big screen. There was a boost of confidence when we found out it would be rated R, and the end result gives diehard Deadpool fans something celebrate.

The 'Deadpool' Trailers Are Here And They Rule

Coming out of San Diego Comic-Con, one of the movies that generated the most chatter was Deadpool, and while we had to wait for it, we’ve now got not one, but two badass new trailers for Merc with the Mouth’s new solo joint. And if the character’s less than stellar debut in X-Men Origins: Wolverine filled you with doubt and fear, those should be assuaged after you get your first look.

As a future hermit who is eventually going to die and be eaten by my animal friends before my neighbors complain about the stench, this trailer for Ryan Reynolds' dark indie comedy The Voices truly speaks to me, as it were.

'Safe House' Movie Review

It’s difficult to take about “Safe House” without evoking the legacy of the “Bourne” movies, the influence is that obvious. Stylistically, thematically, and visually, “Safe House” is definitely getting an invite to the “Bourne” family reunion. This isn’t meant to be a knock against the film, especially since the “Bourne” films are some of the best kick-ass action movies in recent times, this is a simple statement of fact. And director Daniel Espinosa’s “Safe House” is a solid, if by the numbers, knock off. Though it isn’t anything you haven’t seen before, “Safe House” is lightning-fast, and full of shootouts, brutal fistfights, and chase scenes. In the end, isn’t that what you really want out of an action film?

'The Change-Up' Movie Review

It’s about damn time. All my life I’ve watched movies like “Freaky Friday”, “Freaky Friday” remakes, and “Freaky Friday” knock-offs, screaming, “When? When, God, will bros finally get their turn?” And I am pleased to finally be able to say that today, August 5th , 2011 (unless you’re reading this later), the bros finally get their due, thanks to director David Dobkins’s (“Wedding Crasher”) new body-swap comedy “The Change-Up”. Because of Dobkins, and writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (“The Hangover”), no longer will we have to wonder what it would be like if two dudes, two dudes with polar opposite personalities and lives, switched places with each other for a short time. No longer will we have to theorize how this scenario would play out, we have concrete cinematic proof of the wackiness that will ensue.
