'K.O.' (2025) Movie Review

Ciryl Gane looking menacing on a movie poster.
It makes too much sense to cast Ciryl Gane in an action movie. On one hand, he’s a professional MMA fighter, a heavyweight no less. At six-foot-five, he’s a 250 pound wall of muscly giant, with a unique blend of physicality and martial arts acumen to more than sell an on-screen fight. On the other hand, however, he also has an adorable baby face, complete with a goofy smile that often makes it difficult to take him seriously as a badass. It's hard to say this massive, scary dude is cute, but…he kind of is. Fortunately French director Antoine Blossier knows how to make good use of both of these facets in his new movie, K.O.

'Demon City' (2025) Movie Review

a man with a machete in an elevator
Have you seen Seiji Tanaka’s Demon City, or a close approximation of it before? Yes, many times. Among other comparable titles, it’s almost beat-for-beat Hard to Kill. Does it have much in the way of nuance, depth, or character development? No. It’s extremely sparse on those fronts. What it does have, however, are plenty of bonkers, bloody fight scenes and awesome action choreography.

'Back In Action' (2025) Movie Review

cameron diaz and jamie foxx in back in action
When people say “Netflix movie” in a derogatory sense, Back in Action is what they mean. Big, slick, expensive, and with a couple of name stars in the lead role, all of which amounts to absolutely nothing.

'The Gray Man' (2022) Movie Review

ryan gosling and chris evans
Do you like empty posturing and stylistics, faux clever banter, saccharine emotional manipulation, dubious (meaning nonexistent) character motivation, wannabe cool needle drops, and a series of exhausting set pieces? How about muddy visuals, hollow action, and an overreliance on camera tricks due to a lack of ability to shoot a fight scene? Just for kicks, why not throw in a stacked cast of actors you like but wish were all in a better movie? And all for a bloated price tag of $200 million? If that sounds like fun, it’s not, but it all adds to Netflix’s latest vapid action offering, The Gray Man, from Marvel alums the Russo Brothers.

Crazy action, a stacked cast, revenge, a long-lost parent…yeah, I’m in. If any of that sounds good to you, you’ll probably want to check out this trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Gunpowder Milkshake, which has all of that and more.

'Sentinelle' (2021) Movie Review

olga kurylenko knife
Mainstream American cinema, and by that I mean Hollywood, has largely abandoned the gritty, workmanlike mid-tier R-rated action films that had their heyday in the 1980s. It still exists, plenty of it, but it has primarily been relegated to the DTV market and indie productions. However, in Europe, especially France and Spain is seems, the genre is alive and kicking. There are a crap ton of recent additions on Netflix, and that includes Julien Leclercq’s latest revenge-tinged action thriller, Sentinelle

Zack Snyder's 'Army Of The Dead' Trailer Executes A Heist In Zombified Las Vegas

dave bautista and friends
A heist movie, but make it zombies. I’ve heard much worse ideas, and that’s the basic premise behind Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix movie, Army of the Dead. While this first trailer doesn’t reveal much, it teases action, the undead, and the myriad problems that arise when those two elements collide. In short, it looks like a fine time. Check it out below.

'Project Power' Trailer: Jamie Foxx And Joseph Gordon-Levitt Team Up For Netflix's Latest Action Movie

Yeah, sure, why the hell not? I’d seriously never heard of Project Power, which sounds like a reality show about electrical engineers, until yesterday. But an action movie starring Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, about a drug that gives users five-minutes of a surprise power? (Maybe you’ll be invisible, maybe you’re super strong.) I’ll watch that. Check out the first trailer from the upcoming Netflix movie below.

'The Old Guard' Trailer: Charlize Theron Leads A Gang Of Immortal Soldiers For Netflix

It’s tough out there for immortal soldiers who can’t die and have nothing to do but protect the world. So goes the new action adventure The Old Guard. With an incredible cast and a fantastic director, Netflix has what looks like another big hit on their hands. Check out the first trailer below.

Spike Lee's 'Da 5 Bloods' Trailer Heads Back To Vietnam For Netflix

In this house we stan Spike Lee. And from what we see in this first trailer for his upcoming Da 5 Bloods, we have quite a bit to be very, very excited about. Come on, that cast alone is worth dying for. Check it out below.

'Extraction' Trailer: Chris Hemsworth Kills So Many People For Netflix

There’s a proud tradition of stunt performers becoming badass action directors. David Leitch, Chad Stahelski, Nash Egerton, Scott Waugh, and now Sam Hargrave. He cut his teeth coordinating fights for tons of movies, most notably as of late, the likes of Captain America: Winter Soldier, Thor: Ragnarok, and Atomic Blonde, among others. Now he’s getting the chance to helm a feature of his very own, reuniting with key players from his Marvel days. Check out the first trailer for Extraction.

Netflix's 'Locke & Key' Trailer Brings Joe Hills Incredible Horror Comic To Life

Written by Joe Hill, who just so happens to be the son of horror legend Stephen King, Locke & Key is one of the best comics in recent memory, horror or otherwise. It’s also been a cursed project in terms of adaptations. But finally, against all odds, and after an absurd number of tries, it’s coming to Netflix and this new trailer looks incredible.

'6 Underground' Trailer: Michael Bay And Ryan Reynolds Destroy Italy With Gleeful Abandon

There’s a segment of the filmgoing public who, with good reason, hates Michael Bay. I’m not one of them. (Outside of the Transformers movies, those movies are trash and their—now thankfully waning—popularity baffles me.) With his next film, 6 Underground, he’s bringing his Bayhem to Netflix and this new trailer is both amazing and terrible in the best possible ways. There’s also one of the most god-awful posters I’ve ever seen.

'Eli' Trailer: Ciaran Foy Teams With Netflix For A Spooky Medical Haunted House

Director Ciaran Foy’s feature debut, Citadel, was one of my favorite movies of 2012, horror or otherwise. I think it’s criminally overlooked when we discuss the best horror films of the last decade. That said, his follow up, Sinister 2, wasn’t great. Still, I’m excited for his latest, Eli, which made my most anticipated movies of 2019 list, even if it has been delayed for some time. It drops on Netflix in a couple weeks and to drum up interest, there’s this creepy new trailer and poster.

'In The Tall Grass' Trailer: A Stephen King Field Is A Very Scary Field

And the Stephen King cinematic renaissance continues. In our new quest to adapt every last iota of the horror master’s work, here comes In the Tall Grass, based on a novella by King and his son, Joe Hill, who is a badass horror writer in his own right. Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali (Splice), Netflix dropped the first trailer. True to form, it’s creepy and strange and everything is not as it initially appears. Check it out below.

'Wu Assassins' Trailer: Iko Uwais Battles Ancient Supernatural Evil, And His Dad

Hey, remember like an hour ago when we were discussing that badass clip from Netflix’s upcoming action series Wu Assassins? Remember when I mentioned a full trailer was on the way today? Well, it’s here. Enjoy.

'Wu Assassins' Clip: Watch Iko Uwais Pummel Dudes In A Hallway

Looking for a reason to get excited about a movie or series, the presence of Iko Uwais usually does the trick. Such is the case with Netflix’s upcoming supernatural action show, Wu Assassins. It lands on the streaming behemoth in a few weeks, and just in case we weren’t already all jacked up, this badass new clip should do the trick.

'Point Blank' Trailer: Frank Grillo And Anthony Mackie Team Up In This Remake Of A Baddass French Action Movie

UPDATED: Not to be confused with classic 1967 Lee Marvin movie of the same name, the 2010 French action-thriller Point Blank has been remade a startling number of times for a film most people never knew existed. And that includes a new Netflix version starring Frank Grillo and Anthony Mackie. It drops next month and the first trailer is here to prove it.

'Maria' (2019) Movie Review

movie poster of a woman holding a knife

Due to a handful of factors, it’s easy to equate Pedring Lopez’ new action film Maria to Erik Matti’s 2018 BuyBust. Both hail from the Philippines, they feature similar color palates, both have a particular mean streak, and they even share stunt choreographer Sonny Sison. And thanks to a single, but significant plot point, it’s also going to garner comparisons to Kiet Le-van’s Furie from earlier this year.
