'Azrael' (2024) Movie Review

In the wake of the Rapture, a devout religious enclave has forsworn the “sin of speech,” living a wordless existence in relative isolation. (Their whistling, however, does feel a bit like cheating at times.) When a young woman the credits tell us is named Azrael (Samara Weaving, Ready or Not) is set to be sacrificed to zombie-like creatures that inhabit the woods, she attempts to escape with her lover (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Candyman) and must fight to avoid being torn limb from limb.

'Bill & Ted Face The Music' Gets A New Trailer, Release Date, And Release Strategy

COVID-19 continues to rewrite the world, especially here in the U.S. because we’re too cool to wear masks and not flood public spaces the second the weather got nice. It’s affected every industry, and the entertainment industry is no different. With theaters closed, limited, or closing, and most productions halted, everything is delayed. The long-gestating sequel has a new release date and new strategy, and a new trailer to mark the occasion.

As bleak as 2020 has been, we could all use a touch of hope, optimism, and to be a bit more excellent to each other. (Also, because the first two rank among our favorite films of all time.) Face the Music is still slated to open this summer—we’ll see how that goes—and now we have our first trailer. Check it out, dudes.

'Guns Akimbo' Trailer: Daniel Radcliffe Teams With 'Deathgasm' Director For This Insane Looking Movie

Jason Lei Howden’s Deathgasm was one of my favorite movies of 2015. Who am I kidding, it’s one of my favorite movies of the last ten years. It’s a the demonic, heavy-metal horror movie I’ve always needed in my life. So, of course I’m incredibly pumped about his follow up, Guns Akimbo. If you saw photos going around the internet of Daniel Radcliffe with guns bolted to his hands, that’s where those images came from. And now, finally, we have a trailer, and it looks insane in the best possible way.

'Ready Or Not' (2019) Movie Review

Like clockwork. Every August, after the big-budget studio tentpoles wrap their summer run, a movie shows up. Maybe it came out of nowhere. Maybe it looked kind of stupid. Maybe both. But it arrives on the scene, is a total blast, and breathes a bit of new life into the late summer. Happens damn near every year. This year, that honor goes to Ready or Not. And its energy is especially welcome at the end of a summer full of flaccid, bland, mediocre franchise installments no one wanted, asked for, or saw in the theater.
