What’s worse than dealing with a shark attack? Dealing with a giant shark attack. And what’s worse than dealing with a giant shark attack? Dealing with a giant demon-shark attack. And this isn’t your average giant demon-shark, no, this is a giant demon-shark, called forth by a vengeful Aztec deity, that makes people hallucinate and have horrific visions. In addition to all the usual destructive giant shark shenanigans.
A group of college friends on a drunken spring break excursion “borrow” a pair of jet skis for a fun, alcohol-fueled jaunt into unfamiliar waters where no one knows they’re going. What can go possibly go wrong? The answer in Shark Bait, the latest from director James Nunn (One Shot), is everything. They have an accident, their transportation breaks down, and, of course, sharks.
If you know anything about The Meg, even the simple fact that it involves Jason Statham and a giant shark, and have ever seen a movie, it’s easy to predict what you’re going to get when you sit down in the theater. And The Meg delivers precisely the movie it promises, for better and worse.
I’m a simple man with simple tastes. Tell me you have a
movie where Jason Statham fights a giant shark, and I will watch that movie. Hence,

about how it should just be called Meg, make of that what
you will). It’s a film, perhaps a cinematic experience, that exists, and now it
has a trailer.
Being trapped, alone, just a short distance from unattainable
freedom, threatened by some external force you can’t control or defeat, is a
primal, visceral fear. And The Shallows, an upcoming
thriller about Blake Lively trapped a few hundred feet from shore by a great
white shark, looks to make full use of that lurking fear. The film just dropped
a new trailer. Check it out below.
