'Armor' (2024) Movie Review

It happens on occasion that two movies with similar plots release on top of one another. There was Armageddon and Deep Impact in the summer of 1998, Dante’s Peak and Volcano in 1997, and November 2024 gave us Aftermath a few weeks ago and now Armor. And talking about these two DTV armored-car-heist-on-a-bridge movies, Armor is not only the lesser of the two, by far, there's nothing of value or interest to find here. Except for die-hard Sylvester Stallone completists.

'Creed 2' Trailer Punches Michael B. Jordan In The Face

I’m a sucker for a good boxing movie. Or any fighting movie, really. But especially the Sweet Science. There’s something to be said for the poetry of brutal movement, triumph of the spirit, grand metaphors for the human condition, and all that jazz. And I loved Creed, so of course I’m excited for Creed 2 (or Creed II if you will), which now has a brand spanking new trailer.

At this point it’s cliché to say I don’t care about the Oscars. I obviously pay attention in an academic way—it’s my job, after all—and for spectacle’s sake, but that’s about as far as my interest really goes. The nominations for this year came out and they play out as you expect.

Movie Review: 'Creed' Is The Best 'Rocky' Movie Since 'Rocky'

I am and always will be a complete and total sucker for any Rocky movie. It’s not a franchise many expected to continue after the fifth installment, and there was a collective groan in 2006 for Rocky Balboa, which turned out to be great. Still, in 2015, we were left asking ourselves if we really needed another movie, and after watching Creed, I’m going to come out and say yes, yes we did.

The First 'Creed' Trailer Is Intense And Powerful

The last time star Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler got together we got Fruitvale Station, and now we’re getting Creed, which appears to be a little bit spinoff, a little bit sequel to Rocky Balboa, which is something I’ll always watch and be excited about. Dropping later this fall, the film just released its first trailer, and it looks fantastic.

'Bullet To The Head' Movie Review

As James “Jimmy Bobo” Bonomo (Sylvester Stallone) says in Walter Hill’s “Bullet to the Head”, “Guns don’t kill people.” Jimmy Bobo, however, most certainly does. With guns, knives, cars, bombs, his hands, walls, even an apple, he kills many, many people. Often at the drop of a hat. This wanton disregard for human life is pretty much the point of the whole movie, and when Hill lets his protagonist out to play, is when “Bullet to the Head” is at its best. The rest of the time, when they try to insert story or character—or to paraphrase one viewer, any time there are words—you run into problems.
