'Dead For A Dollar' (2022) Movie Review
In the opening scene of Walter Hill’s new western, Dead for a Dollar, bounty hunter Max Borlund (Christoph Waltz) visits outlaw Joe Cribbens (Willem Dafoe) as he’s about to get out of jail, where Borlund put him. This sets the stage for a tale of hard, violent men on an inevitable collision course. And at no subsequent point does the film live up to the potential of this first moment.

'No Time To Die' (2021) Movie Review
Originally slated to drop in November of 2019, then further delayed multiple times because of COVD-19, No Time to Die serves as Daniel Craig’s James Bond swan song, his grand finale as the iconic international man of mystery. And after months and months and months of waiting, of anticipation, it ends, to use that oft quoted line from T.S. Eliot, not with a bang, but with a whimper.

'Downsizing' (2017) Movie Review
It’s easy to describe most of Alexander Payne’s filmography
as “white dudes learn an important lesson: the movie.” And to that end, his
latest, Downsizing, feels right at home among titles like
Election and Nebraska. Where it stands
out is that it finds the director splashing around in the science fiction pool for
the first time. The film bears an intriguing satiric premise, tips its hat to
all manner of interesting thematic concerns related to that conceit, and begins
with promise, only to shit the bed in complete, spectacular, baffling fashion.

'Downsizing' Teaser Shrinks Matt Damon And Kristen Wiig
Shows about tiny houses are all the rage on deep-dive cable
home improvement channels. But Alexander Payne’s Downsizing
takes that to a whole new level. It’s one of my most anticipated movies still
to come in 2017, and it just premiered at the Venice Film Festival. To mark the
occasion, we also have a short burst of footage to look at.

'The Legend Of Tarzan' (2016) Movie Review
Summer is the time when Hollywood unleashes its annual swarm
of massive tentpole blockbusters; movies full of epic-scale action, dashing
heroics, and grandiose exploits. Maybe it’s not always be the most delicate,
intellectually stimulating fare, but there’s usually big entertaining popcorn
fun to be found. This year, not so much.

'Spectre' Movie Review
Spectre, the latest James Bond film,
begins with a blistering opening scene, the kind of action sequence that, when
you stumble across the movie on TV years from now, you’ll stop what you’re
doing and watch, even if you don’t stick around for the rest. Set in Mexico
City during a massive Day of the Dead celebration, the international man of
mystery tracks a target through the crowd of skull-mask clad revelers. Visually
striking, intricately staged, and beginning with a soaring, uninterrupted take,
it starts the movie out on a high note (though there’s a missed opportunity for
a singularly James Bond moment at the end). The ensuing film, however, never
quite measures up to this opening.

The Final 'Spectre' Trailer Drops A Building On James Bond
Since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to be James Bond, and in 38 years, that hasn’t changed much, even though I’ve come to realize he’s a basically a sociopath. After Skyfall, I’m rather pumped up for Spectre, and with the release just over a month away, the final trailer for the world’s most well known spy is here for your perusal. Take a look below.

the next installment, Spectre. Seriously, just watch it and
try to keep your pulse under control, it’s no easy task, this shit is rad.
