A heist movie, but make it zombies. I’ve heard much worse ideas, and that’s the basic premise behind Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix movie, Army of the Dead. While this first trailer doesn’t reveal much, it teases action, the undead, and the myriad problems that arise when those two elements collide. In short, it looks like a fine time. This will surprise absolutely no one, but Yuen Woo-ping can stage the hell out of a fight. The guy is a legend for good reason. And he displays this particular skill front and center in his latest directorial effort, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy, which features choreography on par with some of his best. Inventive and thrilling, it runs the gamut from incredibly technical martial arts acumen to high-flying wire artistry that calls to mind his work on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

'Hotel Artemis' (2018) Movie Review

Hotel Artemis isn’t a movie I ever need to think of again. But as a slice of pulpy sci-fi action, buoyed by a strong performance from Jodie Foster and a great surrounding cast, writer/director Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation, Iron Man 3) delivers a fun little R-rated trifle.

Iko Uwais, Dave Bautista, and Kumail Nanjiani are not three actors I automatically associate. Sure, I could see Uwais and Bautista team up for a low-down DTV actioner. By the same token, I can imagine Bautista and Nanjiani in a mismatched buddy actioner. But it looks like all three are about to team up for an action comedy called Stuber.

Admittedly, I enjoy movies with large, sprawling mythologies that don’t always stick to the confines of what we see on screen in a theater. I also often enjoy promotional build up to movies that do things a little differently, that add context or additional value to the movie. What I don’t like is when that same supplementary material becomes required reading for said movie. I don’t know that this is the case for Blade Runner 2049, but with a new prequel short, it’s starting to feel that way. (You can read my more in-depth thoughts on the matter HERE.) 'Blade Runner 2049' Trailer: Guess What? This Movie Still Looks Incredible

As much as belong to the camp that Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic Blade Runner doesn’t need a sequel—it’s a goddamned masterpiece—I’ll cop to being all kinds of jazzed for Blade Runner 2049. It looks weird and mysterious and like an extension of the original atmospherically, aesthetically, and tonally. Hell, even the score sounds like an inevitable evolution of what came before. We have to wait until October to actually see it, but this majestic new trailer should keep us occupied for a few minutes.

'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' (2017) Movie Review

What’s the one thing Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel’s 2014 deep space adventure, is missing? That’s right, Kurt Russell. Fortunately for everyone, writer/director James Gunn’s follow up, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rectifies that oversight with a vengeance. Oh yeah, and there’s Baby Groot, who may be the most adorable character to ever grace the silver screen.

As much as I do enjoy a number of Marvel movies, 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy stands out as my favorite. It’s so different than everything else the comic book studio has produced, and the deep space high adventure is just so damn much fun. So, it’s understandable I’m psyched for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and the fact that it releases fantastic trailers like this latest one only stokes that fire.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Joins Yet Another 'Kickboxer' Movie

We haven’t even had the opportunity to lay eyes upon Kickboxer: Vengeance (fingers crossed for sometime this year, which seems reasonable considering it’s about to debut at the Fantasia Film Festival), but we’ve got even more of the rebooted Kickboxer franchise on the way. To celebrate the Fourth of July, none other than Jean-Claude Van Damme gave us a taste of what’s to come by releasing a video of himself signing a contract for the sequel, Kickboxer: Retaliation. 'Spectre' Movie Review

Spectre, the latest James Bond film, begins with a blistering opening scene, the kind of action sequence that, when you stumble across the movie on TV years from now, you’ll stop what you’re doing and watch, even if you don’t stick around for the rest. Set in Mexico City during a massive Day of the Dead celebration, the international man of mystery tracks a target through the crowd of skull-mask clad revelers. Visually striking, intricately staged, and beginning with a soaring, uninterrupted take, it starts the movie out on a high note (though there’s a missed opportunity for a singularly James Bond moment at the end). The ensuing film, however, never quite measures up to this opening.

At this stage, I’m always going to get excited for a new James Bond movie. That’s just a fact of life I’ve grown accustomed to over the years. And it’s easy when they do things like drop this incredible trailer for the next installment, Spectre. Seriously, just watch it and try to keep your pulse under control, it’s no easy task, this shit is rad.
