'Daredevil' Season 2 Final Trailer: More Punisher, More Elektra, More Darkness

Holy crap, this snuck up on me, but we’re only three days away from Netflix dropping the entirety of Daredevil Season 2 for your binging pleasure. To mark the occasion, the streaming giant has released a final trailer. Take a look after the jump.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Trailer Is Badass And Full Of Elektra

“There’s nothing we can do but fight.” Those words echo throughout the latest trailer for Season 2 of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil, and there is certainly a great deal of fighting. The last look gave us a full-frontal blast of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, while this latest video is heavy on the other key new addition, Elodie Yung’s Elektra Natchios.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Full Trailer Is Heavy On The Punisher

As someone who was horrifically, irreparably scarred by the Daredevil movie, Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil series came as such a welcome gift last year. Dark, violent, morally questionable, it was damn near everything I love from the comics, and all of those elements are set to get cranked way up in Season 2 with the introduction of the Punisher. Check out the latest trailer for Daredevil Season 2 and try not to squeal with glee.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Gets A Trailer And Release Date

It’s no secret that Daredevil is my all-time favorite comic book, and after the travesty that was the Ben Affleck fronted movie, Marvel and Netflix got it right with their dark, gritty series. Season 2 is on the way, and now we have a new trailer and a concrete release date.

'Daredevil' Season 2: Check Out The Punisher's Arsenal

We all know that the Punisher has a sweet arsenal to use when it comes to dispensing his particularly brutal form of vigilante justice. We also know that the Punisher is going to appear in Season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix. And just to tease what we’re going to get, Jon Bernthal, who plays Frank Castle, gave us a glimpse of what to expect. It’s enough to make fans of the comics pee themselves a little.

'Daredevil' Season 2 Just Cast The Punisher

The Punisher is one of my favorite comic books, but it has not fared well when it comes to big screen adaptations. Part of this is because the overtly violent, morally questionable (or repugnant if you like) stance makes any adaptation a hard-R by necessity. Since Daredevil became a hit on Netflix, with a darker, grittier tone rather than the bright fun of Marvel Cinematic Universe, many have wondered if the character could show up there. And now we know he will, and who is going to play him. Get more after the jump.

Marvel's 'Daredevil' Season 2 Is Adding An Important Character

The first season of Netflix’s Daredevil series was so good that it almost made me forget about the 2003 abomination (almost, that’s a wound that lingers). It was dark and gritty and got the characters right without just rehashing the comics; the action was, at times, as good as anything we’ve seen in years (that fight at the end of episode 2 is mind-blowing); and it delivered damn near everything I wanted as a lifelong fan of the Man Without Fear. Now it looks like Marvel is adding an important new character for season 2, Elektra.

Two 'Daredevil' Trailers Showcase A Dark, Gritty Superhero Adventure

Since the beginning, I’ve been as skeptical as anyone about Marvel and Netflix teaming up for Daredevil. I’m still gun-shy from the last attempt to adapt my all-time favorite comic, and the earliest looks didn’t exactly inspire confidence (I’m not as concerned about the suit as most people, though I’m not not concerned). But as we draw closer to the April 10 release date, the early reviews have been strong (especially from sources whose opinions I trust), and the recent promotion, including two new trailers, has got me stoked for this, at least cautiously so.

There Are Only Dark Corners In This 'Daredevil' Trailer

Okay, I’m in. Daredevil is my all time favorite comic, and after the debacle of the Ben Affleck version, I’ve been skeptical about Marvel’s upcoming series on Netflix. Over time, however, I’ve allowed myself to become cautiously optimistic, and after this new trailer, our longest, most in-depth look yet, I’m officially excited.

Marvel's 'Daredevil' Reveals Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin In These New Photos

There aren’t many actors who can play Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin, in the Marvel Universe. The man is a monster, just a behemoth that routinely kicks the crap out of superheroes with his bare hands and his evil schemes. We’ll have to wait until the April 10 premiere of Netflix’s Daredevil to see if Vincent D’Onofrio can truly pull it off, but in these new photos, he certainly looks the part.

Marvel's 'Daredevil' Reveals The Cast In These New Photos

Admittedly, I have some major concerns about Marvel’s upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix. I’m still gun-shy from the last attempted adaptation (I was on a date on Valentine’s Day and had to be restrained from leaving the theater like five minutes in), and while what we’ve seen shows potential, it hasn’t exactly set the world on fire. As we get closer, we’re seeing more and more, and this new set of photos from Empire gives us our first look at the supporting players.

Netflix's Full 'Daredevil' Trailer Is Dark And Grim, Check It Out Here

Marvel is all about brand expansion, and with their upcoming Netflix adaptation of Daredevil it certainly appears that they’re taking a different path than usual. The look and feel of this new trailer, our first real look at the show, has, at least on the surface, more in common with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy than your average MCU offering, especially the episodic TV side of things, like Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I like both of those shows well enough, but this appears to be something else.

Netflix's 'Daredevil' Reveals The First Gritty Footage, Full Trailer Drops Tomorrow

Daredevil is one of my all-time favorite comics and has been since I was a kid. There are so many great storylines and arcs, not to mention the dark, gritty tone, that it seems tailor made for adaptation right now. Still, the Ben Affleck version sucked so hard I almost walked out of the theater four minutes in (it was Valentine’s Day and I was on a date). Since then I’ve been a wee bit gun shy, for obvious reasons, and while I really, really want the new Netflix Daredevil series to be good, I’m taking a wait and see approach. I’ll still binge watch it all the day it drops, but nothing we’ve seen up to this point fills me with overwhelming confidence, including this quick new peek.
