'Those Who Wish Me Dead' Trailer: Angelina Jolie Fights Fire And Assassins

angelina jolie fights fire
After beginning his career as a bit-part actor, Taylor Sheridan made his name penning a string of bleak, neo-frontier, pseudo-westerns set in the modern age. Movie like Hell or High Water and Sicario. Jumping to the director’s chair, his output remains tonally and thematically similar thanks to the likes of Wind River. Judging by this trailer, his latest, an adaptation of Michael Kortya’s novel Those Who Wish Me Dead, trods familiar territory. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and this looks like a movie we will be very, very into.

This 'Mortal Kombat' Red Band Trailer Has Bloody Ice Daggers And Tons Of Violence

Video game movies have a bad rap, which, let’s be honest, is largely earned. As much as I enjoy the Resident Evil movies and a handful of others, there are some absolute dogs. Yet every time a new adaptation comes out, we collectively ask, “Is this the one that breaks the curse?” Who knows if it will, but the latest attempt to translate Mortal Kombat to the big screen has a lot going for it and this first trailer looks pretty damn rad.

In This 'Lovecraft Country' Trailer Jordan Peele And J.J. Abrams Haven't Even Gotten To The Real Strange Part

Oh yes, this is the kind of thing we like to see. Big episodic horror from an all-star creative team, with an incredible cast, on a premium network known for major production value. We’ve been waiting for HBO’s Lovecraft Country, produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, for a long time. While we won’t get it until August, we finally have our first look at a trailer.

HBO Orders 'Maniac Cop' Series From Nicolas Winding Refn And John Hyams

Nicolas Winding Refn has been talking about a Maniac Cop remake for years. Back in 2015 it was as a movie he would produce from Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning director John Hyams. Even then, he’d been talking about that since 2012. That version never materialized and despite periodic rumblings, we all assumed it was one of the many, many potential projects he expounds on that would never happen—it’s a regular occurrence. But here we are, in the year of our lord 2019, and there’s news that HBO is going to let Refn turn Maniac Cop into a series. And the world sucks a little bit less for the moment.

HBO's 'Fahrenheit 451' Trailer Wants To Burn

Lots of people go through a dystopian fiction streak. Mine was in junior high/early high school. (And, to be honest, continues to this day.) We’ve got classics like 1984, Brave New World, and The Handmaid’s Tale. Whole new generations are getting in on the act with things like The Hunger Games and Divergent books, among many others. One of the greatest of this ilk, and one of my favorites, is Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451. Francois Truffaut brought it to the screen in 1966, but now HBO has an impending adaptation with a fresh new trailer.

HBO Green Lights 'True Detective' Season 3 And It Sounds Awesome

This morning, my Twitter timeline is full of people defending season two of HBO’s True Detective, something I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed before. Why today of all days, you might ask? Well, because last night, the cable giant announced their plans for True Detective season three, and they sound incredible. So everyone is crapping all over season two and the supporters have valiantly chosen to defend the much-maligned arc’s honor.
