If movies have taught me nothing—and let’s be fair, movies
have taught me most things—it’s that you never, never, ever mess with an
amnesiac. Every last one is a secret badass ready to take you apart by muscle memory
alone. And that’s certainly the case in Headshot. The set up
is strictly Bourne, but the Indonesian directing duo, the Mo
Brothers—Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto, who also wrote the script—deliver bonkers
action on a level we don’t often encounter.
The precise moment when I think I can’t get any more excited
for the Mo Brothers’ Iko Uwais-starring actioner, Headshot,
they have to go and drop yet another insane, ass-kicking, bone-snapping,
face-punching trailer. Thanks, fellas.
February 2017 is shaping up to be a wonderful month for fans
of bone-crunching fight scenes and wild gunplay. At least as far as movies go.
Not only does John Wick: Chapter 2 open, but The Raid
star Iko Uwais is back to dismantle dudes in the Mo Brothers’
Headshot. The film made the fall festival rounds and just
dropped a second trailer that continues to deliver on the promise of the first.
Never fuck with an amnesiac. One, it makes you a total dick,
and two, movies have taught us that they are all secret badasses just waiting
to dismantle you for crossing them and the ones they love. That’s more or less
what we get in the first teaser trailer for the Iko Uwais-starring
Headshot from the Mo Brothers. And is looks exactly as
brutal and ruthless as I hoped.
Whatever he wants to do, I will watch Iko Uwais do it.
Fortunately for me, at least as far as movies go, that usually involves him
kicking the crap out of people. And I support that. The latest cinematic endeavor
for The Raid star, the hyper-violent revenge yarn
Headshot, helmed by the Mo Brothers (Macabre,
Killers), makes its premiere at the Toronto International
Film Festival next week, and in advance of that, there’s a badass new poster to
gawk at.
He had a bit part in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Raid has become a modern action
classic, and hardcore fans of badass cinema laud him as one of the preeminent
movie martial artists of the modern era, but Indonesian star Iko Uwais is way,
way underrated. Anything he does is a must-watch, and that includes his latest,
Headshot. It’s even better that he’s teaming up with the Mo
Brothers (Killers, Macabre), and a slew
of punchy, kicky new photos just washed up on the internet to pummel us about
the head and neck.

Iko Uwais — and let’s be honest here, he’s quickly become one of the must-watch
action movie badasses in the world — you’re going to be getting a lot more of
him shortly. And he’s just lined up another project we can’t wait to see,
called Headshot.
