The 2023 Oscar Nominees Are Here

michelle yeoh with hot dog fingers
The 95th Academy Award nominations are here…and that’s all I really have to say on the matter. Some of these are great and I agree with them. Others, as usual, are absolute head-scratchers. Make of this information what you will.

On a slightly related note, the two film critics groups I’m part of announced our 2022 awards. You can check those out HERE and HERE. As with the big show awards, some are fantastic, others not.

Much already has and will be said about this year’s Oscar nominations by the time we get to the award show on March 12. I’m already exhausted by the discourse and it’s only day one. I’ll certainly be watching as they hand out the trophies because I like spectacle and famous people dressed all fancy. (And if Everything Everywhere All at Once doesn’t sweep the acting categories I’m going to burn shit. I'm also going to pretend Colin Farrell got his nom for After Yang.)

One note: I find it amusing that though I’ve seen most of these films, I’ve reviewed almost none of them. Guess that indicates where my priorities lie when it comes to reviewing movies these days.
