'Cleaner' (2025) Movie Review

Daisy Ridley dangling off a building
If you used to be in the military but are now trying to adjust to civilian life—you know, a normal, hum drum job, taking care of family members, the usual—you are going to wind up in a bit of a Die Hard situation when you least expect it. That’s the expectation movies have set up for us, and that is precisely what Martin Campbell’s new action thriller Cleaner delivers. It scratches a familiar itch but doesn’t stand out in any way.

'Gemini Man' (2019) Movie Review

It’s going to be weird to talk about Gemini Man, Ang Lee’s new Old-Will-Smith-versus-Young-Will-Smith action movie. Not because of the plot or acting or story or any of the usual suspects—though there is, as always, much to discus in those arenas—but because of the technology used to make it. By its very nature, this is going to create multiple different viewing experiences, even more so than the usual 3D, IMAX, etc. format choices, and potentially have more of an impact.

Luc Besson's 'Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets' Trailer Is Full Of Space Madness

Remember a few days ago when movies seemed way more important than they do right now? Those were good times. (For the record, I still believe film and books and music and art are vitally important—we will need them desperately in the coming days—I’m just being hyperbolic, so go watch movies like Moonlight and maybe give THIS ARTICLE a read.) The world has apparently decided to remain turning, and Hollywood keeps kicking out movies. And that includes Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and we’ve got the first trailer for your perusal. It’s straight up bananas.

Watch Clive Owen Drive Angry In Neill Blomkamp Directed Short 'The Escape'

Sure, his last couple of movies haven’t been great (Elysium was less than stellar, and who the hell thought it was a good idea to put Die Antwoord in a movie about an adorable robot?), but at least visually, Neill Blomkamp is still one of the most exciting filmmakers out there right now. Though the Alien movie he’s been developing got back-burnered, the South African director has a quick-hitter for us to enjoy, the short, BMW-produced actioner The Escape. Check it out below.
