Over the next few weeks, Netflix will release two of my
most-anticipated movies of 2018, movies I’ve been frothing at the mouth for
since I first heard they exist. They drop Jeremy Saulnier’s Hold the
Dark this month, and in October, they release Apostle,
the latest film from The Raid mastermind Gareth Evans. That doesn’t
hit until October, but as if Evans’ very involvement doesn’t land this at the
top of your must-watch list, this first trailer should do the trick.

Gareth Evans' Actioner 'Apostle' Goes To Church In First Image
After Merantau, The Raid,
The Raid 2, and even that short, I’m completely in the bag
for anything Gareth Evans does next. That especially includes his upcoming
Apostle, which, in addition to being a Gareth Evans movie,
also has an awesome cast and sounds freaking rad. It’s still off in the distant
future, but now we have our first look at Apostle. Check it
out after the jump.

'The Raid' Remake Is Apparently Back On With Joe Carnahan And Frank Grillo
Gareth Evans’ bananas 2011 Indonesian film, The
Raid, is one of the greatest modern action movies. Grim, gritty, and
brutal, it introduced the world-at-large to the prodigious talents of Iko Uwais
and marked it’s helmer as a true auteur of bone-breaking violence. And because
it’s subtitled, an American remake has kicked around ever since. A remake of
The Raid has been an on-again-off-again proposition, but it’s
apparently very much on again.

'Apostle': 'The Raid' Director Gareth Evans Casts Handsome Badass Dan Steven In Period Actioner
A Gareth Evans movie is always good news. It’s been too long
since he pummeled us all about the head and neck with The
Raid and The Raid 2 (and, of course,
Merantau). But he’s back with a new project in the works
called Apostle, and as if that’s not enough, he’s bringing
badass leading man Dan Stevens along for the ride.

'The Raid' Director Made A Badass Short Film, You Need To Watch It Right Now
You’re going to want to stop whatever your doing, because
whatever you’re currently involved in, with very few exceptions, is not as
awesome as a new short film from Gareth Evans. The director of TheRaid and The Raid 2 dropped a badass five-minute
video, and if that’s enough to get you to check it out, what are you even doing
here?
