'Wish Upon' (2017) Movie Review

Young Clare Shannon (Joey King) is having a rough go. As a child, she watched her mom hang herself. After that tragedy, her dad (Ryan Phillippe) totally abandoned his sweet saxophone skills in favor of his career as a dumpster diver, which is, of course, a constant source of embarrassment to Clare. High school sucks and is full of mean girls, her dream boy doesn’t know she exists, and she only has two friends, June (Shannon Purser) and Meredith (Sydney Park). If Wish Upon sounds like a familiar set up, you’re not wrong.

'Wolf Warrior 2' Trailer: Try To Fit More Action Into Two Minutes, I Dare You

Thanks, Well Go USA, you know me so well. You know how much I love guns, explosions, tank battles, hulking dudes with heavy weapons, and Frank Grillo. And you managed to find Wu Jing’s Wolf Warrior 2, which combines all of those elements and more. I feel like this trailer is just for me, but I feel bad because I didn’t get you anything.

'War For The Planet Of The Apes' (2017) Movie Review

The big special-effects-laden tentpoles studios release during the summer months have a reputation for being empty spectacles and little more. That’s not always the case, but we see a lot of loud, stupid trash in theaters this time of year (cough Transformers 5 cough). Over the last two movies, the revamped Planet of the Apes franchise has shown audiences that there’s room for intelligence, emotion, and nuance in the warmer months, and they prove it once again with War for the Planet of the Apes.

I rarely use exclamation points, let alone three, but holy Christ on a fucking crutch, I just watched the Geostorm trailer and random punctuation all I manage at the moment. Watch it now, we’ll discuss the matter at hand after it pummels your mind about for a few minutes.

'The Ritual' Trailer Reminds You To Never Take A Shortcut Through The Woods

Not only does 2017 have a Friday the 13th on the calendar, it has a Friday the 13th on the calendar in the month of October. This automatically becomes ground zero for horror movie releases, and one promising genre joint making its way to theaters this year is David Bruckner’s The Ritual.

Holy Shit, 'The FP 2' Is Happening And You Can Help

If you haven’t watched the Trost Brothers’ The FP, do yourself a favor, drop whatever you’re doing, and rectify that oversight. It’s a movie I once described as “like watching the hyperactive, sugar-fueled bastard child of The Warriors, Japanese pop culture, and a hillbilly bounce all over the screen.” Well now there’s a sequel, Beats of Rage: The FP 2, in the works, and you can help Beat-Beat this shit into reality.

We don’t get to see Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets until later this month, but hot damn, I’m primed for some bananas space-crazy. But just in case you’re not in the same boat, check out these five new clips.
