There’s been talk of a new Red Sonja movie for what feels like forever. Multiple stars and high-profile filmmakers have been attached in one form or another, until it seemed like it was destined to languish just out of reach in development hell. But here we are, in the year of our lord 2025, and M.J. Bassett, the director behind Solomon Kane and Rogue, among others, has finally delivered the goods.
There’s a scene in Triple Threat where Tony Jaa fights Scott Adkins, then Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais fight Scott Adkins, then Tony Jaa fights Scott Adkins solo again. A scene. Actually, not even a scene, it’s a sequence within a scene. If that’s not enough to convince you to watch a movie, keep reading, I’ll try harder.
Though it feels like it’s been coming forever, Triple Threat finally hits theaters next week for a one-day extravaganza of face-punching mayhem before it lands on VOD. Frequent visitors to this site know well how much this movie makes me salivate. And we have a new clip that should do the same for you. Check it out below.
Happy Valentine’s Day! While some choose to celebrate this holiday with candy, candlelight, and other romantic markers, I prefer the way the good folks behind Triple Threat like to party, with face kicking, spinning elbows, flying knees, and general badass action mayhem. Yes, the full Triple Threat trailer promised a few days ago has arrived, and all I can say is, “Hell Yes!” to what is apparently “the killingest action event of the year.”
Triple Threat is all of my favorite
things wrapped up in one convenient package. Action, martial arts, gunplay. Oh,
and it stars every cinematic badass currently working. The credits include Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Tiger Chen, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, JeeJa Yanin,
Michael Wong, Michael Bisping, and Celina Jade. I hope I didn’t forget anyone,
but I may have, the list is long and distinguished. As you may imagine, I’m
beyond excited for Triple Threat, and that anticipation just
took another huge leap forward with the first trailer. Check it out after the jump.
Cinematic face-breakers Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, and Tiger Chen
have been trying to work on a film together for a while now. They had
Makeshift Squad, billed as an “Asian
Expendables,” lined up, but that has yet to materialize.
After that, we heard reports of Triple Threat, to be directed
by John Wick: Chapter 2 helmer Chad Stahelski. That also
failed to get off the starting blocks. But the trio of preeminent movie martial
artists are back at it again, reportedly attached to a new project, also titled
Triple Threat, and they’re bringing reinforcements in the form
of Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, and UFC Middleweight champion Michael
Bisping. Yeah, It’s like they asked me what I want in a movie and did exactly
what I said. It almost brings a tear to my eye it’s so beautiful.
