ORIGINAL POST: Now that we’re getting a movie every year or so, plus the upcoming streaming shows and the glut of books and comics and other media, it’s a bit less special, but I will never not be excited for Star Wars movie. And the final trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits me in all the feelings places. Check it out for yourself below.

Yeah, Disney owns everything and that hegemony has already had a negative impact on the movie world. (Films have been cancelled, they’ve shuttered arms that handle smaller films, it’s now more difficult if not impossible for rep theaters to screen certain titles, etc.) But I remain 100% on the hook for all things Star Wars and this latest look at Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker gives me chills.

'Triple Frontier' Trailer: Handsome Men Rob Drug Dealers

Handsome white men can get away with damn near anything. From the look of the new trailer for J.C. Chandor’s Triple Frontier, the film plans to push this thesis to the extreme as a bunch of good looking dudes—Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Pedro Pascal, and Garrett Heduld—basically invade a foreign country to rob a drug cartel. What can possibly go wrong?

'Annihilation' (2018) Movie Review

Talking to fans of Jeff VanderMeer’s Annihilation, if you venture to see Alex Garland’s cinematic adaptation, steel yourself, they are very different animals. Both maintain the general sci-fi Heart of Darkness-style journey, and there are a few plot points intact—like the lighthouse and Area X. But aside from that, they go in two different directions.

I Have Questions About 'Annihilation'

I try as best I can, and for the most part I’m successful, to keep books and their cinematic adaptations in separate compartments. They’re drastically different mediums. You can do things in a book that you can’t in a movie; novels have space to spool out and expand, while movies have a more rigid time structure. No movie is ever going to ruin a book, no matter how much it changes. And though I don’t expect that to happen in this instance, I have questions about Alex Garland’s adaptation of Jeff VanerMeer’s Annihilation.

“I’m just so tired of all these Star Wars.” Okay, I’m not, not at all. Nor did I have the titular line in Star Wars, which has always chaffed. We’re now less than a month away from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which I’m rather jazzed for. 'Annihilation' Trailer: Alex Garland's Sci-Fi Film Looks Beautiful And Creepy

After directing Ex Machina (and writing Dredd and 28 Days Later…), I’m down to watch anything Alex Garland does. So, understandably, I’m rather jacked for his upcoming adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling novel, Annihilation. I haven’t read the book, but I love that Garland’s sticking around the sci-fi end of the pool, and the first teaser trailer looks very much like a movie I want to watch.

George Clooney's 'Suburbicon' Trailer Is Wicked And Hilarious

Not content with being a huge star, aging more gracefully than any human ever to live, and selling his tequila brand for a billion dollars, George Clooney continues to make the rest of us mere mortals look like turds by directing movies. His latest, the Coen Brothers-scripted Suburbicon is one we’ve been keeping an eye on. The first trailer just dropped and it’s pretty much what you expect, and I mean that in a good way. Final 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer Is Full Of Adventure And Surprises

While both Marvel and DC appear to have a roadmap for their respective superhero franchises—though they are certainly subject to change—20th Century Fox’s X-Men series has the feeling that they studio is just throwing things at the wall, seeing what sticks, and making it up as they go. They basically retconned the entire original timeline out of existence. It’s going to be interesting to see where they go with the latest installment, X-Men: Apocalypse. But as we approach the release date, we’ve got the final trailer, which arrives with some unexpected bits of fan service that are sure to make hardcore followers cheer in their seats.
