Ryan Reynold's Pets Order Him To Kill In This 'The Voices' Trailer

I get talking to your pets. I talk to mine more than to other people, way more. As a future hermit who is eventually going to die and be eaten by my animal friends before my neighbors complain about the stench, this trailer for Ryan Reynolds' dark indie comedy The Voices truly speaks to me, as it were.

Everything starts out so awkward and cute, looking like a rom com where two weirdoes get together, only to take a sharp left turn as Jerry’s (Reynolds) cat and dog start telling him to kill people and he goes full blown serial killer. Sometimes I worry that this is my future.

Here’s the synopsis:

THE VOICES is a genre-bending film, which centers around Jerry, a lovable but disturbed factory worker who yearns for the attention of a woman in accounting. When their relationship takes a sudden turn, we follow Jerry’s perspective as his talking pets, a sinister cat and benevolent dog, lead him down a fantastical, murderous path.

Director Marjane Satrapi’s movie looks like a total blast, and it’s nice to see Reynolds trying to reinvent himself after the twin disasters of Green Lantern and RIPD. A great supporting cast includes Anna Kendrick, Gemma Arterton, and Jacki Weaver, not to mention an adorable cat and big dopey dog.

The Voices hits theaters and VOD on February 6.
